Millennium Films CEO and Red Sonja producer Avi Lerner recently released a statement making it very clear that he had no intention of firing Singer as director despite mounting pressure to do just that after new sexual assault allegations emerged, but it looks like he's been forced to budge... to some degree, at least.

According to Deadline, the fantasy adventure movie has now been removed from the mini-stdio's slate and put squarely on the back burner. Singer remains on board the project for the time being, but that may change if and when the She-Devil with a Sword's reboot does eventually go into production.

Lerner released a follow-up statement claiming that his original comments “came out the wrong way".  “I think victims should be heard and this allegation should be taken very, very seriously,” he added. “I just don’t agree to judge by Twitter. I want [the accused] to be judged by the court.”

AKA some other exec walked into Lerner's office and said 'Hey big guy, we know you're a perv too, but maybe take it easy on the public statements endorsing our director who is up to his neck in underage boy actor horror stories and maybe let this blow over first'.

Hard to believe the studio heads thought it was a good idea to hire a director accused of sexual assault, to direct a Red Sonja movie. I mean, it's not like the character has ever been raped or anything, oh wait...

@TheBeard - screenplay by Max Landis, co-starring Kevin Spacey.

Bryan Singer is trash. Can't believe Bohemian Rhapsody even went as far as it did.

Singer is well known for this shit, so yeah, good choice, even though I love Red Sonja.

Just fire the a-hole and hire any of the myriad of talented female directors out there. Problem solved. Then make an awesome movie.
