Dolph Lundgren In Conan?

Maybe! The 80s action star revealed to MTV that he has been in talks with the movie's producers about a potential role...

"I've talked to the producers about doing something for Conan" Dolph Lundgren told MTV News while promoting his direct-to-DVD film "Command Performance,".

The new Conan movie shares a team of producers with Sylvestor Stallone's new movieThe Expendables , in which Lundgren makes an appearance. This could have iopened up the negotiations. Asked what type of role he would be looking to play he said..

"It's too early," , explaining that he didn't expect to know more until "probably next year."

Well, I enjoy a cheesy action flick as much as anyone but I don't think anyone will disagree when I say as an actor, old Dolph isn't up to much! Conan may be a balls to the wall action fest, but I was hoping for at least convincing performances to go along with it! Hopefully he is cast as a mute henchman or something.

Does anyone really want to see a repeat of this?

I loved Masters of the Universe when I was a kid. (Not as many standards.) Dolph would make a good orc-type character. Maybe he could be crushed and/or driven before Conan, while Conan has the lamentations of Dolph's women on repeat on his Ipod.

Considering the 80's Conan films, perhaps there is far too much expectation floating around here for this new Conan film. I wouldn't set an expectation for Oscar worthy or bust because you're just not going to be happy no matter what. Considering the cult status of the first one and its poor acting by a lot of cast members, tossing those select few in the film didn't hurt it for its longevity. Like wise, I don't see the need to start panning the new Conan because Dolph might be in. We're not going to get cinematic masterpiece with the new Conan, in all honesty, all we can hope is that they get closer to the source and pay homage to what worked in the older films.

Also, Dolph was a good Punisher and as Shaman mentioned he boned Tia Carrere.

WeaponX- ON SCREEN might i add!!! I mean, even IF they didn't truly "do it" having it right on screen counts for mega "evil orgy king" points!!! And didn't he also bone Charlotte Lewis(in Army D Movie something) who had sucked on Alissa Milano's tit ON SCREEN?!?!?!?! Dudes, the guy would have the right to be Sauron in my book LOL :P

Sylvester Stallone on Schwarzenegger's "Expendables" Cameo

Dolph Lundgren Talks The Expendables
November 01, 2009

Writer/director Sylvester Stallone is hoping that his latest movie, The Expendables, will bring back the days of the "real" action hero and to ensure that he's filled the cast with a veritable who's who of current and former tough-guy actors and action superstars, including Dolph Lundgren. In a recent interview, Lundgren, who has played numerous action icons, including The Punisher, He-Man and Ivan Drago, confirmed that Stallone is tired of "soft" action heroes.

"I never came with a conscious plan to replace anyone else. Stallone does feel that way. He is a real tough guy in real life, and he gets to act that out. If you meet him and work with him, he is what he is. He is a guy that works out every day. And he fires guns. That's what he does. People's tastes vary and change. I guess there have been a lot of actors that have been trained to fight and look tough, starting with The Matrix. Now, Stallone figures that he is going to put some real men out there. That is why he hires people like me, who are big and used to do sports for real. That's why he's picked guys like [Randy] Couture and [Jason] Statham, and [Jet] Lee."

Lundgren said that he has been a friend and pupil of Stallone's since he first starred opposite him in Rocky IV and that he's grateful for the "great character" that Stallone wrote for him in The Expendables.

"[My character is] crazy but funny. In a comedic way. He's a good guy and a bad guy at the same time. Stallone really pushed me to get those comedic moments to work. It's something that I hadn't really ever done before. It was hard for me, especially with Stallone directing. And we have all of these other guys there. Stallone is a pretty tough director. You don't mess with him. But those scenes certainly proved that comedy in these types of films is very important. I think it works for me. Maybe that will be my secret weapon in the future of my career. I hope, anyway."

As for the future, Lundgren is unsure whether The Expendables will be a one-off or the start of a franchise.

"Stallone is huge on sequels. I don't know what is going to happen. Even so, I think people are going to love this film. And want another one. They are going to be thrilled by what they see on that screen. Especially when I am going up against Sly. We are both friends and enemies in this movie. I think it's going to be really good."

Arnold Schwarzenegger has a cameo in Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables," which he previously described the following way: "I walk out of a hotel or out of an office building and [Stallone] will walk up and we will bump into each other and there will be some mumbling and then we will walk off."

Apparently that wasn't enough of a description for fans, so when Stallone visited Venice recently, an Italian newspaper asked him for a few more details. "Arnold plays a mercenary who tries to steal my character's job," he explained. "There's a funny scene where we show our rivality, like in our careers."

A repeat of that? No. A repeat of a villain who can monologue like this; HELL YEAH!!!

(Technically not a monologue, but)

Gotta love Langella, the guy took a subpar script and acted the shit out of it because his son loved the He-Man cartoon and he wanted to give him a great Skeletor…. Father of the year 1987.

I miss the days of latex costumes and really having the bad guy onset, you know? If they could make Tim Curry one of the best full on classic devils I’ve ever seen on film in 1985, then surely things like that could be done today without blowing 2/3 of the budget on CGI.

If they really bring a decent version of Conan to life, I hope they go practical on as many effects as possible; Conan doesn’t need the slick look of CGI. Conan’s world needs the feeling of realness in its characters to offset the fantasy of its story (especially if they are making it more like Howard’s version). And besides, if Conan splits some poor bastard’s skull in twain with a battle ax tell me seeing that crap in CGI is more fun to watch than seeing a good old fashioned fake head burst and three gallons of red corn syrup and chicken liver brains go splashing about.
