THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER Trailer Teases New Characters And A Different Side To Middle-Earth

Prime Video has finally released a new trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, (first shared by SFFGazette.com), and it offers an epic, intriguing glimpse at what's to come when we finally return to Middle-earth this September.

There's a whole lot to delve into here as heaps of characters and locations are teased. This makes it hard to figure out where exactly the show is taking us, though we can't help but wonder if that figure emerging from the fire is whoever Sauron was before he became the terrifying demon who terrorised Middle-earth in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Described as the "main teaser," we expect plenty more trailers to be released over the next couple of months. Prime Video is no doubt going to pull out all the stops to promote a show that reportedly cost them upwards of $250 million to make, and it so far looks like money well spent.

Remember, the show is also heading to next week's San Diego Comic-Con, so we anticipate a lot of exciting news to drop during that event now it's no longer being held virtually.

The show, adapted from J.R.R. Tolkien's iconic series of novels, is set to take place during the Second Age, thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. This story is set to follow a cast made up of established and new characters as they "confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth" (a.k.a. Sauron).

The series boasts a massive ensemble, while J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay are set to serve as showrunners. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power premieres on September 2, later this year, so keep checking back here for updates as we have them.

@Kadara - looks epic. Wonder if they are considering putting the first episode or season finale in theaters.

I’ll have to make sure to watch it on the home theater.

‘Whoever Sauron was before he became the terrifying monster……..’

Mairon, Chief Maia of the Vala Aule, the blacksmith.

Sauron was the greatest of all subservient creations to the original Vala, themselves created by Eru, The One. Sauron became seduced by the desire for power and order by Melkor, chief of the Vala in power and knowledge. Sauron became Morgoth’s ‘Riker’ along with Goth-Mog, lord of the balrogs.

Nice legacy you got there. Nice lore bro. It'd be a shame if someone took it, changed the lore, shoehorned in characters, and called you a (Insert insult and/or allegation here) if you don't like it.

What an abomination. Nothing but a constant stream of CGI. Plastic atmospheres, wooden acting.

It looks visually stunning but the acting in the trailer looked stiff. It seems to lack the gravitas of the Jackson films. I’ll give the first season a shot at the very least.

@MovieMonster - Yes, I noticed that, too. The personalities don't seem to be as strong as the ones in the Jacksons films.

Cringe Bro. You're living in the past. You mean you don't like it when we change things you like to things we like? Seems pretty toxic to me.
