Ok, so I just got back seeing Ghost Rider SOV. I have to say I enjoyed it. Now for everyone who has beef with the Rider films I now get your point of view, but as a Ghost Rider fan I did enjoy it. So hear me out I have stuff to say for both sides.

First off, the one thing that I love about the whole film was it was much DARKER from the first one.( and yes I did like the first one too.) It was seven years after the first one. So when the Rider showed up he was a burned skull and twitchy like he has gone crazy. Which was very cool. Also, the Rider showed up a lot more than in the first one which is nice because you got to see more of the hero. Now something I notice as I was watching the movie was that they were trying to add to much humor in it. For example, Johnny was saying that the devil takes many forms here on earth and they were showing pictures of different forms. Then out of on where they show a picture of Jerry Springer. WTF Jerry Springer?

Now we all know Marvel Knight haven't done the best work (Punisher War Zone)especially with flash backs. When they showed Johnny making the deal he smashed his hand on broken glass and splashed blood on it. Well in the first one he just got a paper cut and a drop of blood landed on it.

Another thing that caught my eye was the boy Danny. Now is this the third Ghost Rider? Is this Danny Ketch ? Not really sure because apparently this boy is the son of Saten. So if there is a possibly of a third (remember now I said IF ) will he become the next Rider.

Over all the story was good. I did really like. Now if they decided to reboot this will I be upset ? Not really, but as a CBM lover I give Ghost Rider SOV a 3 out of 5.

It's not exactly ghost rider 2 it's ghost rider spirit of vengeance. The only thing the same is the directors wanted to use mic cage. The script wasn't even written as a sequel it was written before the first movie. Punisher war zone isn't punisher 2 it's punisher war zone.
Now that outta the way. Now, as for the directors style. Such as the photo inserts and jokes. That's very much like the two crank films (which I enjoy) the only criteria to enjoy this film is do you like crank. You don't even have to enjoy comic books just crank to get the directors choices. My favorite parts of this film were the funny parts. When Johnny is fighting the transformation saying "tell me what I wanna know or I'm gonna let the rider out" he is channeling some of his best work (face/off)
I love corny movies. And neveldine/Taylor are there to deliver. They are the perfect duo for a movie about a flaming skeleton biker who devours souls. The parts that were a little too silly were very short and edited well.
If the cobra movement was used more than once it would have been silly but they only used it in the first scene. If the compass was used more than once it would have been silly but it was used well. It just looked like the rider was in the matrix. Very cool. My better half said, and I agree the only Chang would have been in the freeway chase when gr hops on the truck and hellifies it. It would have been cooler if he did this repeatedly to each vehicle to catch up to roarke

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't expecting MACBETH, but the story doesn't resolve anything for BLAZE, He agrees to help retrieve the Boy (Danny) that Rourke (the Devil) is after, because he is promised that his curse will be lifted, which it is, and in an awfully plain way I must add. After that he still stays involved? Why? what the Hell does he think he can do, and why does he care about this boy and his Mother, he just met them like a day ago, then Danny discovers he has the powers of the Devil, which apparently he had to be told this before he could use them, and does so by giving Blaze his curse back to defeat Rourke, w/o even asking, so it's not like Blaze sacrifices his humanity for the greater good, it's just thrust back upon him with some changes. If the kid has the powers of the Devil, why doesn't he defeat the bad guys himself, why would he give Blaze back the one thing he spent the entire movie stating he does not want? Then Blaze is OK with it because now apparently he can feel the angel ZARATHOS, the Rider once was, upon him? Granted now he has more control over it and can change day or night and has some kinda healing/resurrection gift, but in the end he's only slightly better off than when he started. I wish the kid had turned all the power back on the Devil to send him to Hell, fighting fire with fire, and kept the Ghost Rider curse for himself, since he seems to like THE RIDER, and in another movie he is played by a teen actor and takes over for Blaze, which would have been a more satisfying resolution. Then they could be preparing for a MIDNIGHT SONS film!
