Maybe some Green Hornet at SDCC 2009?

Seth Rogen answers some questions about the status of Green Hornet.

Rogen was asked about how it came to this point in production where the film lost Stephen Chow, who was set to play Kato, the Green Arrows sidekick:

Rogen: In my head, we lost Stephen Chow in April. So it's something I've had a lot of time to wrap my head around. So that's not a change. It might appear to be one to the world and the way that this type of information is doled out. But to me we haven't had a Kato since April and we're looking. We're kind of in the same boat we were in beforehand.

he also answered a question about the difficulty of bringing this project to the big screen

Rogen: It's really hard to make a big movie. Especially in this economy. That actually does effect things. DVD sales are down, that scares the studios. And we're not trying to make what they would consider a 100% safe version of a movie like this. We like to push the envelope. Bring Michel Gondry into the equation and that opens up a whole new bag of worms. Luckily it's all personal relationships with trying to make this. It's been pretty pleasant. It's beena great process, it's just hard.

As far as appearing at Comic-Con for The Green Hornet:

Rogen: There may be a little something at Comic-Con. I never know what I can say and what I can't say.

From the sound of Rogen it seems like there was conflicts of interest of how the film was being made from early on in production, and the production of this film seems to have come to a stop with the departure of Stephen Chow.

Name a bad performance by him to support your claim. You know green hornet isn't as serious a character as Green Lantern etc.. right? He says he is a comic book nerd who wants to take the reins on the Green Hornet, which would not have been made for another 5 plus years if he didn't. Bottom line is Rogen is hilarious in his comedy, and entertaining in everything else he does.

I am interested to see how this version of green hornet will turn out because they want it to be serious but with comedy but from what i have heard its not going to be goofy comedy.

Notice at the beginning of the article; Kato is referred to as the "Green Arrows sidekick." Proofreading people. Can't say it enough. Also there should be an apostrophe between the the 'w' and the 's' in 'Arrows' because, like we learned in first grade, that shows the possessive form of a word. Like Batman's cave, or Superman's girlfriend Lois Lane.

I like Seth Rogen. And I also think it'll be a cool take on the Green Hornet, after seeing Observe and Report, and Pineapple Express I'm more than certain he'll deliver a good balance of action and comedy like those two previous.

I'll definitely be checking this movie out.

He probably quit since they're referencing Kato as Green Hornet's sidekick. In Asia it was billed as "The Kato Show" and Green Hornet was considered the sidekick.

Hey, they got rid of Chow, now all they have to do is get rid of Rogen and make it a serious film instead of a comedy and it'll be perfect! Like I said before and I'll say again - the Green Hornet IS NOT A COMEDY!!!!!

"You know green hornet isn't as serious a character as Green Lantern etc.. right?"

WTF?! Green Lantern is jokey sci-fi nonsense compared to Green Hornet.

The Green Hornet is a gritty, street-level reporter-turned-vigilante detective who takes on realistic criminal elements.

Green Lantern is a random guy chosen by a space alien to get a super ring that can make anything he wants appear out of thin air, so long as it is green, and flies around the galaxy ignoring the sheer distances between solar system where he goes and fights rainbow-colored enemies alongside other green-magic people.

Green Hornet is like Batman without the silly "bat______" theme to all his gadgets and enemies that look like they were inspired by circus sideshow acts.
Green Lanern is like Rainbow Bright with violence.
