I...AM...GROOT!

Review Opinion

I am GROOT!!!!!....okay maybe I'm not but this next review is taking a look at 2014's summer hit, Guardians of the Galaxy. Starring Chris Pratt, Batista, Vin Diesel and a bunch of others, it features a group of criminals that are forced to work together to stop a warrior from taking control of the entire galaxy! No, this isnt Star Wars so calm down, although it's similiar to Star Wars but it's not, calm down, okay I'm getting carried away so let's move on, shall we?

I...am....GROOT!!! Okay, I need to calm down, as Groot is the 2nd best thing in this movie after Rocket Raccoon. I was a little skeptical about this movie because I had never read the comic and I didnt really know if a MARVEL film outside of Iron Man/Captain America/The Avengers would really work and or make money...but somehow it did AND it's getting a sequel. I also never sat down and watched Parks and Rec so I had no idea what kind of actor Chris Pratt really was, but I was pleasantly surprised by his performance in this film. Batista....I wasnt too sure about his acting skills either but I feel like it's safe to say he wont be back in WWE after GOTG 2 comes out.

Rocket Raccoon and Groot is MONEY! They need to make a spinoff/prequel of just those two because IMO they were the best characters in the entire film. Starlord is MARVEL's Han Solo except when he needs to be a hero but then turns into Luke Skywalker? I dont know, dont hurt me please :(. The scenes where the shit hits the fan and all the bounty hunters needing to join forces with Starlord after trying to capture him is like Greedo coming together with Han to take out Vader but with more humor. Did I mention the character of Yondu Udonta whos played by Michael Rooker and kinda indirectly looks like Woody Harrelson? He's a spitting image of him.

All in all, I enjoyed this film. I had doubts going in and I thought it would be pretty boring but I was so thrilled with the end result I've seen this film twice. That's right, a whopping two times. The acting was pretty well done. As before, I wasnt sure how Batista would do as he had only done a movie or 2 prior to this one, but he surprised me a lot. At least this wasnt a WWE produced movie. I give the movie a 5 out of 5.

The dance off with the main villain was stupid

@Iwilliveforever - it's a distraction and it fits the characters arc. I hate trolls that troll this movie, it's all they ever say. GOTG isn't my favorite movie but it's goddamn entertaining.

@Jawtug - I never said it was bad a bad movie. I said that the dancing at the end was stupid, a major plot hole and degraded the villain

@Iwilliveforever - How is it a major plot hole? It was meant to just distract the villain. I feel like people that say "except for the dance off", didn't watch or get the movie at all. It's just a collective criticism that is completely biased and has no merit.

@Jawtug - The villain is supposed to be this big bad ass guy and all he has to do is touch the stone to the ground and he gets what he has always wanted. Instead, he gets distracted by dancing just long enough to get it taken away. It's either lazy writing or a plot hole.

@Iwilliveforever - how is that lazy or a plot hole? We have been listening to Starlords music, given to him by his mother in the first scene, and used throughout. He uses that same music to distract the villain for literally a few seconds that way they can fire a weapon at the "big bad". It's a through line through out the film. That's not lazy, that's narrative. I'm not saying its the greatest story or it's super effective. It's definitely not a plot hole though and it fits the story as a whole. I know you're arguing and just repeating yourself for arguments sake, so no need to reply, we can go round and round on this. If you could explain why it's a plot hole or lazy writing

@Jawtug - Its lazy because the writer wanted a laugh so he made the hero dance to distract a villain. It would have been fine if it was a second or two, but that shit lasted way too long for it to be realistic. The villain should have dropped the hammer and finished it, but nope dancing is his weakness. The movie is still good, but it has its problems just like every movie so relax and get over it.

@Iwilliveforever - so you laughed? If comedy is lazy then you must not know what lazy writing is. His weakness isn't dancing, he didn't even know what dancing was, that was something that humanized Starlord. The blast from the gun to knock the hammer away and them willingly sacrificing themselves for the galaxy defeated Ronan. Like I said don't bother to reply, you're just talking in circles. And I'm relaxed I'm just having a convo. It's not like I'm calling you names or calling you a trolling idiot, so get over it. The End. We obviously view films through our own eyes but to simplify the ending as a dance off is not being honest, that's all I'm saying.

@Jawtug - HAHA why do I have to stop the "convo" you can at anytime. Admit it the dancing as stupid keep making up reasons to feel better, but it was a poor 3rd act to another wise good movie.
PS, just because it makes you laugh does not mean its good writing.

Easily a 5/5 movie. I love Guardians. I just saw it again last week and it was even better than I remembered.
