James Gunn has responded to yesterday's rumor that Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt might be in line for a role in the DCU.

The DC Studios co-CEO was asked if Pratt was in negotiations for a part in the rebooted franchise, and confirmed that he speaks to his friend about it "all the time."

This shouldn't be taken as confirmation that Pratt is officially in talks for any specific character, but it seems clear that some ideas have been tossed around at the very least.

Pratt was asked about the possibility of joining the new DC Universe in a recent interview.

"Well, there’s always a chance," he told TMZ. "But of course, I wouldn’t be able to spoil it here on the sidewalk with you. I could, but I better not. Man, I just have to leave that to the fans and people like James to decide. I'm not exactly sure. I'm truly not sure."

"Yes, of course, if I can fit it into my schedule and it made sense," he added when asked if he was interested in a DCU role.

Gunn was also asked about his GOTG cast members potentially jumping ship to the DCU, and pretty much confirmed that at least one of his former collaborators is already on board.

“If you had the chance to cast any of the GOTG stars in the DC Universe, who would you cast them as?” a fan asked on Threads, to which Gunn responded, “Well that would be a spoiler wouldn’t it?”

Gunn was also asked about another recent rumor that Booster Gold is set for a surprise appearance in Superman, and shot that one down.

Which DC character - if any - would you most like to see Pratt play? Let us know in the comments section down below.

"In Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past." "Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."

Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova. Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now available on Digital platforms and Disney+.

@TheFinestSmack - When you have a very sick child at home with your first wife, you do NOT (absolutely NOT), under any circumstances, publicly thank your new wife for giving you a "healthy child". This should only be done if you want to permanently cement your reputation as one of the most egregious assholes to every slither the surface of the earth.

@HerrmanM - Look at the profile pic/avatar…apparently this muppet is permanently stuck in the early 2000’s-2010’s. That combined with the fact that Pratt is moderately religious, into hunting and doesn’t sit down to pee drives the super tolerant, purple haired, septum pierced, wannabe commy crowd absolutely nuts

@Lisa89 - Ehhh that was always ridiculous that he got grief for that. I can’t believe I have to say this, but…being happy you have a healthy child is okay. I’d argue that I’d be even more grateful for a healthy daughter if I had a son with health issues. It’s not disregarding the health of one child to praise another. His other children don’t cease to exist because of the health issues of one.

I see his post as a father loving his daughter. I don’t see why anyone would read into it as any kind of slight or callousness towards his son, unless they already don’t like the guy and are reaching for things to point at.

@Lisa89 - You just have a hate boner for Pratt and you’re digging up old shit taken out of context and blown out of proportion to feed it.

I cordially invite you to touch grass

@Lisa89 - He didn’t have a sick child at home, he has a son with autism and people made it as if he considers that not healthy. I have autism and it was the stupidest thing I’d read at the time. Get your facts straight before you put lies and hate out into the world about other people.

@HerrmanM - “Jack was born in August of 2012, severely premature. In her memoir, Unqualified, Anna had written, "The pediatric neurosurgeon sat Chris and me down to tell us that Jack had some severe brain bleeding and there was a chance that he could be developmentally disabled. I was in complete shock … So Chris and I did what we could, which was hold hands and hope and face it together." Jack is in better health now but has some problems in his vision and leg muscle issues.”

What was that completely incorrect thing you were saying again?

@Lisa89 - You're a ridiculous person if you think that Pratt was being a dick because he was thankful his child was born healthy regardless of the health of his other child. Talk about seeking out something to be offended by. Get a grip.

@Lisa89 -"Jack is in better health now but has some problems in his vision and leg muscle issues.” Where does it say he was home being a very sick child while Chris Pratt was mentioning his newly born baby? Notice i'm using your quotes.

@TheVisionary25 - It's gonna be tough as hell to surpass Neil Hopkin's take as Sportsmaster from Stargir tbh. Johns COOKED so much with that show and Sportsmaster quickly became a fan favourite especially as he started to redeem himself.

Honestly I'm not even sure any DCU take will come close to what he did with the characters he used until that unfair and ugly cancelation happened. But tdlr; I'm willing to see Pratt as Sportsmaster since it's also a villainous role. It could work.

@NinnesMBC - that show was a good one

I wish we could have multiple takes on characters at the same time now…

I get it might “dilute” the brand or whatever but it allows people to have a version they could connect to if one doesn’t work for them

@TheVisionary25 - Nearly perfection. The one and only I want to be rightfully revived the most. They'd still deliver if they could continue with the 2 Seasons they still had left. Don't get me even started on what they were potentially cooking with Infinity Inc. Ah, Goddamn it...

It'll only "dilute" if anyone messes up, which is what leads to the "fatigue" phase. To add to what you said as well, which is very true, it actually helps the character to have a broader presence in more than one medium. You can have your film version every time a year and meanwhile you can enjoy their serialized TV series until their cinematic sequel is ready. DC has always functioned better that way with Elseworlds stories. Smallville proved it. The rest that has come out after it only helped to cement it. (Nolan's TDK, Bruce Timm's DCU JLU, Johns' Earth-2 based Stargirl, Berlanti's Arrowverse etc)

As of now, I'm more emotionally involved with My Adventures With Superman. Never expected to come to enjoy so much another animated iteration of Superman, but they did it. Their 3rd Season is my most anticipated animated DC show and I'd hate to find out one day that it'll be canceled just to "protect the brand" because now only David Corensweat can voice Superman.

We NEED variety outside the mainline things. X-Men 97 literally proved it this year.

While I think he would make a good Booster Gold or Hal Jordan (if Kumail or Brolin don’t get it) , I still would rather he play a character that differs from Star Lord to an extent…

My pick would either be Thomas Blake/Catman or Nathanial Adam’s/Captain Atom.

He’s shown he can play a darker , more anti-heroic character in the Terminal List or strait laced military guy so either could work.

OT: Alien Romulus was such a joy to watch. As much as Prometheus and Covenant are divisive amongst the fans, Romulus was such a treat for fans of the OG Quadrilogy and Prometheus saga. I do have an interesting theory for those interested. Might make you view Prometheus and Covenant differently.
