GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3: Mark Hamill Reveals Whether He's In Talks To Make An Appearance

Some interesting social media interactions have had everyone talking about the possibility of Mark Hamill showing up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but has the actor discussed that with James Gunn?

Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn lives right around the corner from Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Mark Hamill and after the two of them started interacting on Twitter, they ended up meeting for the first time for a barbeque. Needless to say, fans would love to know if they discussed the possibility of the actor showing up in Vol. 3 but you may actually be disappointed by the answer.

"Well, actually, earlier when I had him down for a barbecue we didn't talk about the movie," the legendary actor admitted. "We talked about living in Malibu, our relatives, pets, and it never really came up. But that's the way it should be, I don't want to strong arm him in any way. I love the movies, they're fun, but I'm happy to be in the audience. There's a lot less pressure." Fair enough!

Even so, it's hard to escape the feeling that seeing Hamill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be a lot of fun, especially as the actor is capable of a lot more than just playing Luke Skywalker in Star Wars!

For now, we'll have to wait and see. We know that Gunn has finished the first draft of the screenplay so if he does have a role in mind for Hamill, he probably would have decided on that by now. Thoughts?

Gardener, definitely. The Elders should all be legendary eclectic performers.

Also, I'm loving that he's getting this broad geek embrace in the last ten years or so. This is a guy whose big role post-Star Wars was probably in Village of the Damned.

I disagree with Mark Hamill on a lot, but he is trul an American treasure.

Yes, please! Give him a nice, memorable, fun role. An eccentric Elder seems like the obvious choice.

Could you imagine the Marvel Universe mixed into the Star Wars Universe? So much to explore - To be honest Star Wars is feeling kind of stale, I’d like to see the Red Skull take over the Empire for awhile, at least until Doctor Doom shows up. Wonder what Jim Starlin could dream up....

Maybe he is being black balled by Disney for dissing Star Wars for wrecking his character .

@thunderforce - Still pushing this narrative? You know, you don't NEED Mark Hamill to dislike a movie, no need to create a false narrative through misunderstanding his words and using quotes out of context to push an agenda.

@ScarletWarlock - If you think he was happy with what they did to Luke , then you should change your name to Antman or The Wasp because you might be living in a different reality than me .

@thunderforce - If you think Mark Hamill gives a shit, then I recommend you take a leave of absence from the internet to get some perspective.

@ScarletWarlock - Yeah, who would ever think actor and fan Mark Hamill could possibly give a damn about the legacy of one of the defining roles of his career, which happened to be one of the most popular characters from one of the biggest, most beloved entertainment franchises in history? Preposterous...

@Kyos - Yes, because THAT'S what I said(obvious sarcasm). Why is your head so thick to think that he's genuinely upset that Luke went through an evolution that a bunch of whiny nerds didn't like. It's possible he may not agree with the choice, but he clearly doesn't have strong feelings. To say otherwise would just be stupid, he's a grown ass man.

I don't know the man well enough personally to be sure about how strong he feels about Luke's... change (I wouldn't call it an evolution, but I can't really call it a regression either). Just going by a lot of stuff he's said he didn't seem too thrilled about the direction Johnson took Luke. Maybe just at first, maybe until today.

To say otherwise would just be stupid, he's a grown ass man.

Ah, you got me there - I actually forgot for a moment that grown ass men can't possibly have strong feelings about things, especially not about things that were a huge part of their lifes.

@ScarletWarlock - I don't want to seem rude or anything but I think he spoke out about not liking the direction they went with Luke more than once , so he must care , or he wouldn't be so vocal and against the very people that were paying him and he tried to be polite about it too .

@Kyos - what you don't seem to understand is I'm not entering a debate here. You're making assumptions based entirely on nothing, essentially.
"Mark Hamill says he was apprehensive about Luke in Last Jedi"
You: "CLEARLY HE HATES THE MOVIE!"

Either way, I don't care if Mark hates the movie or not, it's his life. However, it's simply not the case. He can dislike something, but if you think he hates a movie that he has gone on record to defend with the sincerest praise and intentions, and even going to so far as to say "get a life, nerds", then maybe, JUST MAYBE you're making up Mark's mind because you can't stand the fact that he would possibly be on board with a version of the character you didn't like, which is, bare knuckled, and I say this with the most sincerity, is pathetic. No other word for it.

"CLEARLY HE HATES THE MOVIE!"

...what is going on here? I never said Mark Hamill positively hates the movie. All I know is that I've seen a lot of interviews where he did, indeed, seem pretty apprehensive about the direction they took with the character he helped bring to life decades earlier. Or, like, in a documentary about TLJ:

I don't presume to know what Hamill thinks or feels. I can only go by what I see and hear. If that's "making assumptions based entirely on nothing" in your eyes, so be it. I just really don't think he appears to be someone who doesn't give a shit about Luke's role in the new trilogy.

Rewatched TLJ on Netflix recently on the off chance that I would find something redeeming in it, but sadly it gave me another reason to hate it. If you compare all the things Obi Wan went through to Luke's it really makes Luke look more of an ass for staying on the island.

- Obi saw all if his friends and fellow Jedi killed in a huge coup. The order that he had pledged his life too was destroyed

-He was forced (for a good reason) into exile and had to stay in hidding while the rest of the Jedi were hunted like dogs forn 20 years and he could do nothing about it.

- Had to deal with the crippling depression of knowing that the person behind the fall of the Jedi order was his padawan who he had a very strong brother like relationship with and who he felled to stop.

- The only reason he stayed in Exile was to protect look and as soon as he thought luke was ready he set about trying to weaken the Empire even though he was an old man at the time.

Compared to Luke who tried to kill his nephew because he felt a "darkness" in him, without ever trying to talk to Kylo about it first. He f-ed up big time and never once tried to fix his mistake and instead let all his friends and family down by being a selfish ass.

no. 'legendary actor', PLEASE. If I wasn't already annoyed at the thought of him being in GOTG, I would have died laughing.
And what's with this crap 'voice of the Joker'? Nobody cares! Other than nerdy adults that still watch cartoons with horrible animation, no one knows or cares who voices any character in a cartoon. The greatest voice of all of the greatest cartoons ever was virtually unknown for most of his career.
Can you imagine the ego stroking Gunn and Hamill would be doing on set, not to mention spreading their TDS.
Leave Hamill in the cartoons...where he belongs.

F*ck it... Just merge starwars into guardians of the galaxy... Might be the only way to redeem the starwars franchise at this point
