GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3's Beautiful Opening Sequence Featuring Radiohead's "Creep" Released

The first four minutes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been officially released, and it allows us to take a closer look at that awesome opening scene with Rocket Raccoon making his way through Knowhere.

Sarofsky, "a one-stop cross-media production company specialized in producing outstanding long format, motion graphics, VFX, live-action, main titles, animation, editorial, design, and concept solutions," has released Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's four-minute opening scene.

Beginning with The High Evolutionary reaching for the baby raccoon that ultimately becomes Rocket, we then follow the Guardian through Knowhere for a sequence which culminates with a drunken Peter Quill being carried to his bed by Nebula.

Director James Gunn has revealed the Peter Quill in this scene was actually a lifelike doll created by Legacy Effects and even shared some footage of it on set.

"For the third and last film of the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, the vibe of the main title sequence is definitely a departure from the upbeat ones in Vol. 1 and 2," reads Sarofsky's description of the scene. "We needed to develop a solution that felt much softer and introspective in order for it to work well with the tone of the sequence."

"Set to a beautiful acoustic version of "Creep" by Radiohead, the animation of the letters blowing on and off the screen had to feel light as a feather – having an almost ethereal quality to it."

It's easily one of the MCU's best opening scenes, and you can watch this lengthy Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 clip in the player below.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Gunn writes and directs Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova.

Kevin Feige is the producer and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nikolas Korda, Simon Hatt, and Sara Smith serve as executive producers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters.

@DrReedRichards - Man, as much as I want to see that scene whenever I want....we're not ready. That scene was worth a ticket sale in and of itself! Going again this Friday tho and can't wait!

They did do a great job with this use of Creep.

My hat's off to Gunn. He made a great swan song movie for the MCU.

I don't know if he can fix the DCFU & my beloved DC comics characters, but I am pulling for him all the way.

I hope he leaves all of the terrible Snyder taint behind & completely ignores the horrifically cringe aspects of the CW DC shows and the terrible changes/bad handling they made of many classic characters.

@DocSpock - can't wait for the mcu trolls to come after you for saying it's a swan song for the mcu.

LOL! I meant that it was Gunn's swan song movie for his MCU movies. But that's okay. Let em come. I'll have my fun.

@DocSpock - Yeah I didn’t get the criticism of the music in this one not fitting. I felt that a vast majority of it worked real well.

And Gunn at DC will at least have the advantage of the reboot. He wouldn’t have been able to save the DCEU, but since it’s starting over, I think he can give us something special.

@mountainman -

It all comes down to one thing. The Superman movie. If it's great, he's golden.

I still have nightmares about when they announced Green Lantern & Man of Steel would launch the WB DC universe of movies.

@DocSpock - trust me I've been dealing with so many trolls here. They will take every possible chance to vilify you if you say anything even remotely possibly negative about the mcu. It's hilarious.

mountainman - 5/24/2023, 9:08 AM
@DocSpock - 100% agree. Some of the other projects could stumble or be successful and it wouldn’t affect the overall DCU. Superman:Legacy is literally what this all rests on.

Gunn is great at heart, character and relationships. He seems to be drawing inspiration for good sources. If he can temper his silly humor, I feel like we may be in for something really special.

@DocSpock - like I've said, I've always liked Gunn since Super! Dude knows his comics and how to tell a story but, he does tend to go a bit overboard with his twisted-ass since of humor sometimes. I do think he's curbed that shit a bit since those tweets surfaced and Disney fired him. He's a worker too. I have a feeling we're about to see A GREAT Superman flick with "heart" and I'm almost as excited to see what he does with The Authority. in my opinion, its a great time to be a fan

Origame

@MrDandruff - ...dude I was making jokes about my own personal experience here. I'm not actually saying it will happen. Calm your tits.

Also, false accusation doesn't work in any way since I'm not even mentioning names or specific examples.

Ironically, you've actually proven my point 🤣
Variant
Variant - 5/24/2023, 10:19 AM
@Origame - Now THIS is comedy! YOU calling other people trolls. 😂

You're literally trying to argue with me in another thread that unless a suit is comic accurate it's not good. All you do is complain and then try to defend your complaining with really bad arguments.

Reality check: You are the troll
Origame
Origame - 5/24/2023, 10:27 AM
@Variant - 1) no, I'm arguing with you there that comic accuracy is a factor in how good a superhero suit looks like.

2) literally almost everyone else in that comment section didn't like the suit and complained about its accuracy. How am I the troll for agreeing with the popular opinion?

3) again, thanks for confirming my point. 🤣

@DocSpock good news. I've found the trolls 🤣
Variant
Variant - 5/24/2023, 10:39 AM
@Origame - I promise you, the people here that complain all the time are the trolls. For people calling out the bs and making counterpoints are not the trolls here.

And for your numbering game...

1. Your arguments suck and you keep moving the goal post. And you know it.

2. Anyone who is forming an opinion ALREADY is doing so prematurely based of blurry images. And no, it's not "literally almost everyone." There were also people calling out how dumb it is to form an opinion already AND pointing out how negative people on this site are. (Hint: you being one of them.)

3. Yes, my point that you complain entirely too much. The constant whining is getting OLD
Origame
Origame - 5/24/2023, 10:47 AM
@Variant - 1) no that was you. You seriously had to change it from "going against comic accuracy makes suits look better" to "going against comic accuracy makes suits that work better for the story".

2) hence the word "almost". The vast majority of people there didn't like the suit.

Also fun story, I didn't even comment to you at first. You came to me. Please explain how the guy stating the popular opinion YOU had to reply to is a troll?
Variant
Variant - 5/24/2023, 11:18 AM
@Origame -

1. I NEVER said "going against comic accuracy makes the suit better." LOL. This is just even more proof you're not following along. My one and only point is that a suit doesn't REQUIRE comic book accuracy to be good. To which you asked I provide examples. To which I did. To which you moved the goal post and made excuses as to why my examples didn't count. Lol. Classic troll maneuver.

2. It wasn't the vast majority. And for those that did complain about it, again, have extremely bad premise to call it bad because all we have to assess is a couple blurry images. This has ALWAYS been a stupid jumping to conclusions and it keeps happening. Wait for a fuvcking trailer. Being so hasty to talk shit just makes you look like you never learn from the past.

The troll is the one making the original whiney comments. That is you. The people that REPLY to you are normal users here that call out people's bullshit. Pretty easy to understand. So just stop complaining so much. Easy fix.

2) yes it was. Even counting the comments saying to wait and see, most were saying it didn't look good, and siting it being a departure from the comics as the reason.

If you want to remove vast, fine. But that still means I had the popular opinion.

Also, even by your definition of troll that wasn't me because I wasn't even the first on that thread. You're so desperate 🤣

Wow, variant is giving you the nut kicking. Whenever a troll, a liberal, or a small child gets called out for something, they quickly turn it around and say you are doing it.

Hey look a troll! AM NOT!! YOU are a troll.

Origame
Origame - 5/24/2023, 6:05 PM
@DocSpock - and of course, wasn't even naming him specifically. The projection is clear.

Also, you should check out the latest flash article. Mr dandruff got so triggered he called me out there too. Apparently because I called out mcu trolls here, I needed to call out dc for too many cameos in the flash, or I'm biased.

You can't make this sh!t up 🤣
Variant
Variant - 5/25/2023, 11:41 AM
@Origame - Please, refer to the comments. Because there isn't anything there that said "going against comic accuracy makes the suit better."

Show me where I said that. You can't. Becuase I never did. You misinterpreted something and dug yourself a hole that you can't get out of.

Everyone here knows you're a troll. Everyone here knows you're insecure and that's why you complain so much. Imagine having the reputation of being whiney... and then crying more about how you should have the right to complain. Lol. It's pitiful. And your arguments always fall short. Just give it up. You're not a professional critic. You default to a negative attitude. And this site would be better without you. Get some self awareness.

And siding with TBM? LOL!! He's even worse than you. He's a known imbecile. Doesn't surprise me you guys would be in bed together.

@narrow290 -

Swamp Thing, Zatanna, & Phantom Stranger were some of my favorite characters in the 70s.
Variant
Variant - 5/25/2023, 2:40 PM
@Origame - Let me clarify amicably. I'm not saying the formula to make a good looking live action suit is to intentionally ignore the source material. I'm saying SOME suits do not translate well to live action and because they were ADAPTED to look good for live action, it departed from the source material in order to achieve that.

Source material should ALWAYS be the starting point. If you can copy directly over and it looks great, that's the best possible scenario. And sometimes it works out like that. And sometimes, you can only bring over certain elements but change others. This also turns out for the best in some scenarios. And lastly, sometimes, the comic book suit is so outlandish, you just have to recreate the aesthetic completely and maintain the essence of that character as much as possible. This has the highest risk but can also have a big payoff if the audience goes for it.

At the end of the day, Sam Wilson's new suit looks like it's going to be somewhere right in the middle. He's going to look and function just like the books, but his suit will be somewhat adapted to fit the movie's tone.
Origame
Origame - 5/25/2023, 6:59 PM
@Variant - ok, look. I can tell you're trying to be civil so I'll give you a way out.

Dude, just think about this whole thing for a bit. Why do YOU care so much of what I think about these movies? You end up spending days arguing your opinion is right over my point, yet I'm just a complete stranger to you.

That's why people like me and docspock are laughing at you. That it takes so little for you to get set off.

I have plenty of people in my life, both in real life and online, who have vastly different views on movies than I do. Sometimes even people who have nothing but terrible things to say about movies I love. But I don't care. Why? Because it's just movies.

Now this is simple. I'm not gonna stop because I don't wanna stop. And I'm not gonna force good points out there just to please you. I'm gonna remain honest.

If all of that still bothers you, you can always block me. But if you go that way, why do you feel that you can't handle opposing opinions?

I support you on your journey of self discovery. And if you choose to block me, godspeed.
Variant
Variant - 5/26/2023, 10:24 AM
@Origame - I've never blocked anyone and I don't intend to start. If everyone just blocked people they didn't agree with, no one would ever gain any perspective. And to answer your question, I don't know if "care" is the word I'd use here. We're all sharing a space on open forum. So it's not that I care, I'm just here among the discourse as everyone else is.

It's completely normal for people to have differing views. However, you see an article about something you don't like and offer your criticism. I see certain users here that SEEM like trolls because that criticism seems so default and I offer my criticism of that.

This is not to say no one should criticize ever. I criticize the MCU all the time. I just do it sensibly and also offer my thoughts on the things I liked too. This invites for amicable dialogue. So you see, it's not about opinion; it's about demeanor. And with this being a community, there are a lot of us that would love to talk about our differing opinions here in a civil fashion without having to deal with the usual suspects that aren't even giving an opinion, just talking shit with no substance behind their words. And yes, I challenge those people.

With that said, I've taken my way out and offered a civil response. Your way out is to do a little self discovery yourself and meet folks in the middle. This whole damn website needs rinsing of toxicity. And no one group is responsible for all of it. We need all opinions present and accounted for BUT to discuss intelligently and with the intent of SHARING our perspectives and not presenting them as tho those of the opposite opinions are wrong. And this goes for me too. We all respond better to differing outlooks when they're left open for discussion.
Origame
Origame - 5/26/2023, 12:56 PM
@Variant - ...dude, you called me a troll and have been antagonistic towards me throughout my time here. You guys need to meet me in the middle and not just take my opinions as an attack on you.
Variant
Variant - 5/31/2023, 3:04 PM
@Origame - Well that's just not how meeting in the middle works. This sounds more like you want everyone that disagrees with you to just completely side with you. Meeting in the middle literally means BOTH sides put their differences aside and make an effort to reconcile and make peace. It's a two way street. And I've done my part, twice now, to make an honest effort to make peace.
Origame
Origame - 5/31/2023, 5:15 PM
@Variant - ...are you f@#$ing kidding me? There's plenty in between just flat out agreeing with me and taking my disagreement as a personal attack.

Are you even reading my comments?

And I've long since accepted differences of opinions. I'm open. Just waiting for you.
Variant
Variant - 6/1/2023, 10:10 AM
@Origame - Dude....*sigh* I'm literally sitting here trying to level with you and you can't curve your frustrations. I've been having cordial conversations with people about differing opinions too. So no, I'm not fvcking kidding you. It's really simple: we both approach topics with cooler heads and we resolve the issue. We just both agree to stop talking the shit we talk. Whether it's to each other or about certain articles. You can express your opinions more sensibly and I can approach people I disagree with more sensibly. Deal?
