New Evil Dead Movie Coming

A re-boot of one of the best horror/comedy movies ever made.

Sam Raimi has announced he is making a new Evil Dead movie. This is to be released in 2010. The movie is a re-boot, and Sam Raimi is still directing it, meaning it is going to be just as good, if not, better than the original. Bruce Campbell has only been mentioned as the producer, no word who is starring in it. The story is the same as the original, group of friends go in a cabin in the woods, find a tape recorder with a weird voice(originally Sam Raimi) translating the Necronomicon, book of the dead. The translation wakes up demons and the forest attacks the group of friends, and Ash(main character, Bruce Campbell) must save the day, kind of. The question is, will it be as popular as the original, will it be better? I think it will hold to its good reputation, it isn't some other director who may butcher it, it's the original, meaning Sam is going to re-make his classic vision with a hollywood budget.

Ryan Reynolds would be awesome dead. If Bruce Campbell doesn't play Ash, I really don't think anyone could...

no ryan renoldsl. that is not the right pick. you definately need an unknown. there is no possibility that you could do this with a "major" holywood player. and evn if you did, renolds is not the right choice. it pains me to say, but dane cook would be better in that role if you needed a "name" player for the movie. (if and only if the production studio says you have to. otherwise trust in raimi and have the faith that he could find the right actor for ash.)

Dane Cook isn't a good pick for any role. Ever.

I think that since Raimi is re-doing it himself instead of letting it get butchered, it'll be amazing.

That being said, reynolds would be ok for the role.

Dane Cook is a good actor. Seriously, he can do the serious stuff too. Have any of you seen the movie Mr. Brooks. He was amazing. But I don't think he's "Ash" worthy. He's not THAT good. :P

Paul Rudd on the other hand, now THERE'S an actor. But...I've noticed something with Reynolds, Cook, and Rudd...they're all TOO OLD.

Paul is 40, Dane Cook is in his 30s, and Reynolds, he's pretty up there despite appearances.

Heck, as much I'd hate to see him in the role, Zac Efron would be a better choice (judging by age ONLY)

...know what?...I think I've got the PERFECT person for the role.

Justin Long.

He's got both the perfect comic timing. He can get the whole panicky thing down. He can be serious when the situation calls for. He's also already worked w/ Raimi on Drag Me to Hell (which I want to see really bad). And even though he's 30, he STILL plays high school/college kids like in Accepted, Jeepers Creepers, Herbie: Fully Loaded, Live Free or Die Hard...He's done it all.

He's my perfect choice for Ash.

Im not sure about this, i read a few articles that said this will be a sequel and not a reboot. Picking up years after Army Of Darkness. And that Raimi wants Cambell to return to play Ash

Well, if it's a re-make, I say bring on Justin Long...

and if it's a sequel. That's even better ^_^

As much as I think Justin could play Ash, no one can replace Bruce.

i wasn't trying to say that dane cook is my pick. i wouldn't really want to see either reynolds or cook in this role. i just think that you need an actor with out that "hollywood" title. go with a no name actor. someone from a stage background, or maybe indie films to fill the role. personally i'd rather see a full open casting call than any established actor.

as for long, not a bad choice by any means. altho when campbell did the role originally, i loved the fact that he had that square jaw, steroe-typicall, hero look. i think that added alot to the comedy aspect of that film. i referred to cook simply because i think he has the look and the acting ability to fully pull off the role. (but i'd still rather go with an unknown.)

I heard that Campbell is kinda tired of ash. And WHY dane cook or the wimpy Justin Long guy? We need someone who is a closet hero, and when they become hero, they are all hero.

how bout this. campbell plays the profesor/scholar that was in the cabin who made the original recording. great way to pay homage to the original with still including bruce, but new actor as ash. how bout tom welling for ash?

Jew are correct mr. jojo!

I read that Campbell and Raimi went to a regular movie theater to watch EDI before making part II. What they noticed was that some members of the audience thought the movie was hilarious as did Raimi and Campbell. So they made the part II more humorous. Some of the same things happen so its more of a hilarious remake of the first. Part I really has some good moments but my fave is still ED2.

Dane Cook WOULD be a slap in the face.

If Dane Cook gets picked for the role of Ash, I will lose all respect for Sam Raimi. That'd be too bad, he's one of my favorite directors.

I'm sorry but with the recent trend in movies these days, and the kind person you would like to play as Ash, I think the most likely candidate would be Shia LeBeouf

...And really would that be such a bad thing? Come on! Look at that face! It's perfect, and on top of that he has a scream that would fit a prehero Ash, and he can act the badass hero well too.
->Edit: I can't seem to post this particular pic, anyone mind giving me a few pointers?
