Zack Snyder went on hiatus after stepping away from
Justice League due to the tragic death of his daughter, but he is now ready to get back behind the camera for new Netflix zombie action movie,
Army of The Dead.
Dave Bautista
(Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Endgame) seemed to suggest that he was involved with the project back around the time it was announced, and
THR has now confirmed that he will play the lead. We assume that'll be the guy who assembles a group of mercenaries to pull off a massive heist in Las Vegas... which just so happens to be overrun with zombies.
Snyder's first feature was a remake of George A. Romero's
Dawn of The Dead, and to say he's excited to return to the genre would be an understatement.
“I love big action, I love big sequences," he said in a recent interview.
"My movie brain starts clicking around and I was like, ‘We need to be shooting this now!’ Constructing these sequences really fired me up.”
Snyder will direct and produce with his partner and wife Deborah via their newly rebranded production company, Stone Quarry. There's no premiere date set, but the budget is expected to be in and around the $90 million range.
