Mark Ruffalo Teases THOR: RAGNAROK; Hopes To See The HULK Face-Off With 'Bruce Banner'

Mark Ruffalo, in a recent interview, shared his excitement for Thor: Ragnarok, but instead of divulging too much about his role in the film, he instead shared something he would really like to see depicted on-screen, that being the internal struggle between Bruce Banner & the Hulk!

"Right, don't mention puny Banner..."

A little over a week ago, JoBlo broke the story that Mark Ruffalo (Zodiac) and the Hulk would make their next appearance in Thor: Ragnarok, which will reunite him with his Avengers co-star Chris Hemsworth (In The Heart Of The Sea), who, of course, portrays the God of Thunder. Taika Waititi (What We Do In The Shadows) is directing with a script from Craig Kyle & Christopher Yost. The sure-to-be epic film is expected to kick off production in June 2016 in Hemsworth's native country of Australia.

While chatting with the Huffington Post, Ruffalo acknowledged his role in Ragnarok for the first time by simply sharing his excitement to return: "I play Dr. Bruce Banner, and occasionally I turn into a big green, mean monster...(laughs)... I am excited to keep coming back to this role. I see a lot of space for it to grow."

When further prodded about which direction he would like to see the fan-favorite character grow, Ruffalo said something very, very intriguing: "I feel like there’s a lot of cool stuff to explore still, especially the relationship between Banner and Hulk. Hopefully, we’ll see the two of them in a scene together. That would be cool!"

I think "cool" might be kind of an understatement there because quite frankly, that would be one of the more thrilling sequences to behold on screen when/if Marvel decides to make it happen. The internal struggle between Banner and the Hulk, which should be familiar to comic fans, has merely been hinted toward so far in his two Avengers appearances, but there has been enough to suggest that there's at least a little more than meets the eye going on behind-the-scenes when the two concious entities become the Hulk.

As for Ruffalo's MCU future, it sounds like he's in for the long run as he basically confirms that he'll keep coming back as long as the fans want him to: "I don’t want to overstay my welcome and I hope I never do," he said. "If I do, I’ll be the first one to bow out."

What do you guys think? Puny Banner vs. the Incredible Hulk? Sound off with your thoughts below!

This is very exciting to hear, but I highly doubt it would lead to a Planet Hulk movie anytime soon.

Hopefully we see Hulk and Thor in all their glory. In other words, they need to be powerful.

There will be some place where he goes that will show him (and us) the events that took place over the last two movies through banners eyes like when we see hulk punch Thor it's just really banner giving him a good job shoulder pop in the arm!

I remember Whedon and Ruffalo talking about Hulk being able to talk and stuff. I suppose that didn't make it into AoU.
That's exactly why Hulk needs another movie but I guess he'll have more screen time to develop without other 5 Avengers in the movie this time

I think we may DEFINITELY see Hulk fave Banner in a psychological face off of who gets to control the body.....Hulk may be getting tired of sharing. Asgardian tech/magic may allow for a split and or battle o ensue psychologically within Banners mind.

I hope its like EMH and how they handled it. Have banner talk to Hulk while Hulk is in control; have this constant back and forth. HULK NEEDS TO TALK MORE!

I have a special place in my heart for Beta Ray Bill, have always loved him. Don't think he's gonna show up though, unfortunately.

@KingPatel
Why was my comment deleted? All I suggested was that Bruce could be in Selvig's role.

@Superherodude1: In comics everyone fights everyone, if you want you can find a Deadpool Vs Howard The Duck, but not in cinema.

Yes, I'd love to see the struggle between Hulk and Bruce Banner, BUT IN A HULK FILM!!

I still don't understand what Hulk has to do with Ragnarok.
Feige and Co. don't know what to do with Thor. The Thor movies are the worst in the MCU and he doesn't do anything of worth in the Avengers movies. It's hilarious how much they've neutered the Thunder God.

Give him back to Snyder and Wilkinson.

I doubt that Marvel is copying DC's (yet to begin) cinematic universe. 12 films, $9 billion, and not one flop. Just happy fans

I just wanna see The Hulk Talk more!! Who's with me???

Enough wit that whole concept, these marvel people need to move on with him not communicating much...in that Agents of SMASH show they all talk regular.

Just imagine the hulk and thor talking crap during a battle.

I'm totally with you, dude. Hulk's speech patterns is a part of his character, if they're clever enough they can also come up with some neat dialogue for him without making him sound like a normal person. But considering craig kyle and chris yost are writing, Hulk is bound to talk a little bit. I love Joss' work on both Avengers but I think his hulk is overrated, not making him talk is a huge mistake in my opinion.
