Years after Iron Man 3, Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok have been released, Robert Downey Jr has stated that he is ready to retire as Tony Stark, but later impiled that he would be willing to come back as Tony Stark in a potential fourth Iron Man film if Mel Gibson was willing to direct it. Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth also similarly stated that they may not be finished with playing Captain America and Thor yet. Because of this, fans have decided to create a petition to convince Marvel to develop fourth films of Marvel's Big 3 Avengers.
The directors that fans would wish to have direct those films would be Mel Gibson(who has been a long time friend of RDJ and said that directing Iron Man 4 would be fun), Anthony and Joe Russo(who stated that they were finished with Marvel, unless they make a Secret Wars film, but later stated that they may be willing to return for more Marvel films) and Patty Jenkins(who was originally planned to direct Thor: The Dark World, but was later replaced by Alan Taylor). Chris Brewster even stated that he would love to see Gibson and Jenkins direct Marvel films.
The petition stated "If more solo films were to happen, I believe they would hire Mel Gibson, The Russo Brothers and Patty Jenkins to direct those films".
"Iron Man 4 would have a proper adaptation of Demon in a Bottle", The petition continued, "Captain America would adapt the Secret Empire storyline in his fourth solo film and Thor 4 would adapt the Ballard of Beta Ray Bill saga".
"With Pepper Potts rumored to become Rescue in Avengers 4, it would make perfect sense to have her as Iron Man's second sidekick in a fourth Iron Man and perhaps even joining the Avengers in future MCU films. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have stated they feel like that Chris Evans perfecly nails Captain America, so he said that he would be up for a contract extension if Marvel wants him.z
"Chris Hemsworths wishes to do a fourth Thor film, so with Patty Jenkins having another shot at the Thor franchise and Taika Waititi being demoted to producer, she would become the first person to direct both DC and Marvel films. This would cause DC and Marvel fans to finally unite.
While it would be interesting to see these films happen, 500 signatures is unlikely to encourage Disney and Marvel Studios to put them in production.
