Robert Downey Jr. had this new photo of Iron Man today posted to his official Facebook account.

Downey's apparent schedule can be seen on a whiteboard behind the armor but not clear enough to make out anything other than the abbreviations of the next few months. Knowing how big a fan Whedon is of the more classic looking Iron Man suit is it possible that at some point in the film we'll see this kind of suit again? Will Ultron be formed out of this type of armor?

Was that an attempt to refute what I posted?

I made no assertions as to what the design will be for AoU, or whether he would be downgrading armor or not. Rather, I stated my doubt that Marvel would allow the suit to be revealed in this fashion.

I feel like they wasted a great opportunity to revisit Mark 1 by having it destroyed in Iron Man 3. Unlike many on this site, I liked IM3, but having all the classic armors destroyed means we can't have the great return to ground zero. Since all the armors after Mark 1 presumedly used digital components (Mark 1 too had computer chips), I would think Whedon could concoct a classic scene where Tony Stark uses the Mark 1 armor and confronts Ultron. It would be so great. Alas.

Because it was holding the shrapnel in place. Using Extremis, he was able to remove the shrapnel safely, therefore, not needing the arc reactor any longer.

Agreed. Imagine seeing a storyline like in Matt Fraction's "Invincible Iron Man" of Stark having to downgrade to be more low key. Or because he loses his intellect gradually and it's the only suit he can operate.

I remember in A:EMH how Tony went with Tnor to Asgard and basically made himself an Asgardian Iron Man suit to go up against Ultron if I'm right? Would've been pretty sweet of they did something similar on the big screen.
