Chloe Moretz On Reprising The Role Of Hit-Girl In KICK-ASS 2

The young actress spoke to SHH about playing an older, more "sophisticated" version of Mindy McCready in Jeff Wadlow's currently shooting sequel to Kick-Ass, and the transition from arriving straight from the blood-splattered Carrie shoot..

SHH's Ed Douglas caught up with Chloe Moretz at NYCC over the weekend. The majority of the interview is about her turn as Carrie in Kimberley Piece's upcoming remake, but she also spoke a little about returning to the world of Kick-Ass to play the ultra-violent Hit-Girl. Moretz suggests we will see a more of the character this time around, and talks about what it was like to go - pretty much literally - straight from shooting Carrie to the Kick-Ass 2 set..

"I'm not going back in time, which is good. I'm growing up with this, so it's just an older sophisticated version of Hit Girl and we don't take away who she was but you see Mindy more in this movie and you see her struggle with who she is and try to figure out what she likes, if she likes this, if she likes that, who is she? It was really funny because I only had a weekend off in between 'Carrie' and 'Kick-Ass' so I went from wearing blood every day of my life for the last three weeks of shooting 'Carrie,' to starting 'Kick-Ass.' The first thing I shot was me in full Hit-Girl mode, knives, guns… it was so anti-climactic to go from being this really heartbroken character to be this strong, powerful woman."

Speaking of chloe, I'll just leave this here

I hope she gets to do more of her own stunts in this. She had mad skills with the butterfly knives in the first movie

@Nomis: because a girl who's been brainwashed sicne she was 5, trained into a killing machine, lost her both parents, then had to somehow turn into a regular 14 yr old girl is not a sophisticated character

I'm sorry, I took my eye off the game for a few minutes in the fourth quarter to go from my place to the bar for the rest of the game. Without my viewing there was no chance for the Boys and I feel completely responsible.

I'm with Nomis, Kick Ass was pretty bad. Cage over acted and sucked the life out of the movie and the one dimensional characters didn't help.

I liked Kick-Ass, and I certainly dislike pedophilia.

I doubt Kick-Ass will go down as one of the "greatest" cbms of all time, but it was still pretty awesome nonetheless; I also like how the film demonstrates how diverging from the source material greatly can sometimes be a GOOD thing.

Oh, and judging by it's IMDB score it's undoubtedly one of the best CBMs ever made and the sequel will only reinforce that

It's a site for fans. If you're not one don't go there, and people are lusting over her everywhere, such as IMDB for example.

Seeing how she's well past puberty I don't see the problem, especially if you're close to her age like I am.

And I would have liked to discuss the movie too but with "hurrr durrr it's a disggrace to the genre" sort of posts from 11yr old kids, that doesn't seem like an option

@monkeyballs3:
1. Those are not avatars. They're just images attached to posts.

2. You have no idea how old those guys are and most of them are under 20. You'd know that if you spent some time to look through their posts.

3. Naomis has credibility? What? We aren't talking about some thing that only he knows and we have to take his word for it in which case credibility would matter. We're talking about a movie which the whole world has seen and everyone can judge it for himself.

Let me make it clear so I don't get misinterpreted by some of the people here: I love this site and I love its articles and I'm not trying to be disrespectful to the users here, But some people are idiots (and you can find them anywhere including that chloe fan site for example) and Naomis is a prime example and here is why:

I wasn't attacking his opinion. He can think whatever he wants about it. He was talking about the movie as a whole, which he considered to be "a disgrace to its medium" and right there it comes across like he is speaking for a larger audience, how the people considered it to be. it's no longer his 'opinion', it's something that can be judged objectively.

Now, a normal person would say "I didn't like, it wasn't my cup of tea, I thought it was horrible" etc and just leave it at that. But when you start talking about the movie and its role among CBMs and you BLATANTLY LIE abot it then you can only be qualified as an idiot. Look at the reviews it got. It's one of the best reviewed movies of its genre. It got great reviews here, on IMDB, countless other publications and sites.

So almost everyone thought it was good or great, and that is a FACT, yet you come and say "it was a disgrace to its medium". How can you label such a person if not an idiot?

CptHero
CptHero - 10/15/2012, 1:17 PM
Like I said most of the people there are teenagers. If teenagers being attracted to another teenager is creepy then so is that place. And I'd bet you anything the posters on IMDB are older than that site, and they're just as creepy.

Naomis was talking about a thing that can be judged OBJECTIVELY. And if a movie that almost everyone really enjoyed is a disgrace to its genre, in your opinion, then you are undoubtedly an idiot.

CptHero
CptHero - 10/15/2012, 2:12 PM
@monkeyballs3: transformers got horrible reviews. That point is moot.

As far as the users here being adults I will treat them as such when they deserve it. If someone comes across like an 11yr old retarded kid I will treat him as such.

I laughed at the pedophile comment. I don't care what you thought about the movie, I care what the people as a whole thought. And they enjoyed it just as much as I did.

As far as the medium goes let me say it again: if a movie that almost everyone really enjoyed is a disgrace to its medium you can only be classified as an idiot. I can not break it down in more simple terms than that

Cage was a bit unchained in the viral beatdown/bbq scene, but Kickass had some memorable moments, excellent cast and a great deal of heart. You can argue this but I don't see why: the first successful(?) outing Dave/Kickass makes right after trying to save Mr. Bitey is what the film is about and they definitely nailed that aspect. Also love the scores of John Murphy and Co.

@cpthero, you really ask for it. You advertise your site on articles that mostly talk about the movie: how much it does or does not suck, and some funny pedo bear pictures. It doesn't even matter if there are mostly 10 year olds visiting the site, you are the equivalent of a dude that randomly drops pokemon facts at a college get together.
