Mark Millar Confirms Kick-Ass 2 Is Greenlit? UPDATE: Kick-Ass 2 Confirmed!

It seems that UK fans have heard Millar confirm "Kick-Ass 2" as a go in an interview with Radio 5 and sent their messages to aintitcool.com. NOW updated with the section of the interview confirming the green-lit sequel

"Hi Guys

Been listening to Mark Millar on Radio 5 in the UK who says that because of the fantastic number of DVD sales of Kick Ass that Kick Ass 2 has been greenlit and will go ahead and be based on Millars follow up comic

Just call me Dixie"

Apparently he goes on to saying it was because of the amazing DVD sales that the studio went on to green light a sequel. No confirmation as to whether this is solid but for something like this i would say we are not to far from an official announcement. The comic release date for Kick-Ass 2 will be September 15.

Here is what Mark Millar had to say to radio 5

"The estimate is [Kick-Ass] will do 100 to 150 million on DVD based on the American sales, you know, so it’ll end up making a quarter of a billion on a 28 million investment. So It should be okay. So the sequel’s greenlit, we can go ahead and do the follow up now, you know. The first made so much compared to what it cost it would be crazy not to."

Bleed: Now I liked the movie Kick-Ass more than the book. I do hope they don't go their separate ways with the ending because it was insanely confusing for people who read the comics. We don't know which ending they are following. Yet I still find news on a sequel exciting.
