With work on the latest installment of Kick-Ass slowly moving ahead, Mark Millar has given a few words concerning the direction of the film and why it was chosen, as well as the future of the characters from the first film, Red Mist and Hit-Girl. Read on below for the details.

On how the new director was chosen to helm the sequel:
"Matthew Vaughn chose the director about 18 months ago secretly because he knew he wasn't going to be doing Kick-Ass 2 since he had taken on the X-Men franchise. For a little while, a few weeks, it looked like he might do Kick-Ass 2, but they poured a bucket of money over him to do X-Men instead"

Millar goes more in-depth about the plans the new director has:
"Jeff Wadlow had been talking to Matthew about doing this move Bloodshot a couple of years back and Matthew was really impressed with his script. He'd done a couple of movies on a small budget, and Matthew was like trust me, this is the guy. So the three of us have been talking seriously for about eight months, and Jeff turned in a final draft of the screenplay about eight weeks ago. It's in really nice shape to start shooting in eight or nine weeks' time."

On the sequel plans for Hit-Girl:
"And as for Hit-Girl's role? "Hit-Girl will be the first 30 minutes of the movie and then the next 70 minutes is Kick-Ass 2. So Hit-Girl is structured as the first act."

Finally, Millar goes on to discuss the future of Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Red Mist:
"To see the guy you know as the charming McLovin' doing awful things, it’s going to be doubly upsetting, and that was always the plan. He’s a very, very underrated actor".

Let's hope that the direction is as good as the first, because regardless of how the director was chosen, it would still fall on him to do the sequel justice to the first. When the sequel is finally released, we'll see if it lives up to its former.

So does that mean Hit Girl dies or just the first 30 Mins are focused on her then later on her, Kick Ass and the rest of the story?

I enjoyed the first movie, up til the end when jetpacks and the like were thrown in. It sorta took away from the "real life" vibe they were going for.

Here's to hoping Kick-Ass 2 lives up to the prequel.

And here's to hoping that Vaughn can do Kick-Ass 3!

I'm intrigued, I just hopes Vaughn's replacement is the right man for the job.
