"I know a lot of people think I’m this comic-book nut but that’s not really the case," he revealed when asked about his love of comic books. "I’m more interested in the old horror comics than superheroes, although I’ve always liked Superman."

"In Kick-Ass my two characters, the cop, Damon, and his alter ego, Big Daddy, are like two separate personalities," he said when talking about the influences behind his performance, "and it occurred to me they would have two very different kinds of energies."

"Damon is this gentle, shy, soft-spoken, bland guy but when he’s Big Daddy he’s able to get the job done. And looking at the landscape of superheroes, Adam West, the classic Batman from TV for my generation, it made sense for Big Daddy to draw inspiration from him as he transforms himself."

"It’s pretty dark in places and quite a lot of fun," continued Cage. "Getting the tone right is important, because when you read in the script that the introduction to Big Daddy and Hit-Girl is her in a Kevlar vest and him firing rounds into her chest, that’s pretty difficult material."

Kick-Ass is released on Wednesday in the UK and April 16th everywhere else.

The more i hear about this movie the more i want to see it. I can't wait, I love movies like this. I hate that studio's now days are trying to hard for that PG-13 rating that it ends up causing them to cut so much out of the movie. Thats why I like this one so much, it looks like they are going to take full advantage of that R rating!!! Hell yeah! Seriously if someone shoots me in the foot, im not gonna yell "gosh that hurt!" I'm gonna yell, "HOLY F*CKING SH*T YOU SHOT MY FOOT...A**HOLE!" but thats may just be me :)

man i'm so jealous Josh. we don't get it in the states until the 16th. feels like forever. this movie is going to be awesome!

i wish they would have gotten someone other than Nic Cage to play Big Daddy, though. i hate that guy. he should fall into a volcano.

BUT, i do think i'll be able to stand him in this!

@ gunsmith

eh, again, its really just his mask and cape that are different. the costume is black ar armored. not really much of a difference there. even his belt looks similar. i'm not complaining! they could have just totally hack jobbed it. :)

I also saw it on Saturday! AMAZING!! The cinema was pretty empty though, they had it in the small screen as well. Barely 60 maybe 70 folk were there!

@Bman, If you don't like how he looks like batman I hope you can apprecite how he sounds! ;)

BTW, GUNSMITH those drawings you posted were made as tie-ins for the movie. They are not from the comic series.

They really wanted to play up the Batman reference which I'm okay with. Would've liked to see original comic book renderings though.

I think they change it because what JRJr drew looked a little bit up like a horror movie maniac-killer(wich he is).
