Mark Millar, creator of the comic book that inspired the
Kick-Ass movie by director
Matthew Vaughn, is almost as famous for his ability to hype his properties as he is for the properties themselves. He's spoken repeatedly about his plans for more
Kick-Ass comic books and implied that
a sequel to the
Kick-Ass movie is already in the works. However, in a recent interview, Vaughn said that he does not currently have any plans to make a sequel:
"No, we're not [planning a sequel]. If it continues doing well then we might but I just don't like counting my chickens before the eggs hatched." Jane Goldman, who adapted the comic book for the screen, admitted that they had ideas for a sequel, but that they were planning on taking things slowly:
"Yeah, absolutely [we have ideas], but we don't want to jump the gun." Vaughn also said that the reports of parent groups getting up in arms about the vulgar language used by
Chloe Moretz's character, Hit Girl, in the movie are blown out of proportion:
"Dare I say it but the only people who complained really were the Daily Mail
, and everyone who's seen the movie suddenly they go, 'Oh'.
"It's comic book, it's fun and she's a minor character in the film.
"I got annoyed with people complaining about the swearing in the film, because in Fish Tank
the swearing is far worse and far more realistic and no one's complained about that and I thought 'Why are they picking on Jane?'.
"And no one's complained about me. I thought if they're going to have a fight, why not pick me, Jane just did what she was told."
