This past Saturday was Free Comic Book Day. Geeks across the country went to their local comic stores to get free comics and help support the industry. Even though we have boxes of these comics in our warehouse and we are giving them away with every order, I still went out and participated. There is just something about being in an actual comic book store, surrounded by other comic geeks and experiencing the event first hand that I didn't want to miss.
I took my two boys with me and of course gut suckered into buying them things while we were there but I didn't mind. The street outside the comic shop was filled with comic book and Star Wars cos-players which fascinated my 5 year old. They both picked out their free books including Green Lantern, Young Justice and Super Dinosaur and spent the afternoon at home going through them, asking me to read them and trading them back and forth between the two. It was great.
