If you have a Superman collector's shelf in your house, this Cyborg Superman statue from Prime 1 Studio would look killer next to all the other alternate versions of the Man of Steel.

Standing at 29" tall, Prime 1 Studios is offering two versions of the character- a $799 base figure and a $999 deluxe figure. A $79/$99 deposit secures your order, with the balance due upon shipment.

Prime 1 Studio is excited to present the Injustice 2 Superman Statue! Injustice 2 is a spectacular fighting video game that is a sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us. It was released by NetherRealm Studios, known for creating the recent Mortal Kombat games.

Injustice 2’s storyline centers around Batman and his allies as they try to rebuild the planet after taking down Superman and ending his regime. However, the arrival of the new villain group called “The Society” as well as the arrival of Brainiac forces Batman to free his old friend to help him fight the enemies. The Superman Statue has a sculpted blue costume with textured elements and red and gold accents, including the beautifully crafted iconic red cape.

The Deluxe Edition of Superman Statue includes in total of three alternate portraits, two arm sets and an additional emblem: Seal of Brainiac.

The Cyborg Superman statue from Prime 1 Studios specifically states that it's based on the Injustice 2 video game, not the outstanding comic book series from Tom Taylor.  That's a bit confusing as the character doesn't appear in the sequel and was only an alternate skin for Superman in the first Injustice game- where he wore a red and black variant of the classic Superman skin.

In the first Injustice video game, the Cyborg Superman premiere skin came with three  Qwardian Rings on his right hand, a reference to his time as a member of Sinestro's Fear Corps.  Henshaw joined the Sinestro Corps. after being promised a true and final death, something he had come to believe was impossible after his numerous battles against the Man of Steel and Hal Jordan.  It seems Cyborg Superman possesses an "electronic consciousness" that merely uploads itself to the nearest electronic device when his main body is destroyed.

Hank Henshaw's origin actually parallel's Marvel's Fantastic Four, as he was originally a NASA astronaut whose spaceship was struck by cosmic radiation, granting Henshaw and the other three crew members (one of which was his wife, Terri) powers identical to Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing and the Human Torch.  However, instead of becoming superheroes, they were viewed as monsters, with the other three crew members eventually committing suicide.  Henshaw alone survived, thanks to the LexCorp MainFrame and eventually traded in his Mr. Fantastic-esque abilities to become Cyborg Superman.

Recently, DC Comics introduced another version of Cyborg Superman, whose true identity was Zor-El, brother of Superman's biological father Jor-El, and father of Supergirl.  Zor-El was rescued from Krypton's destruction by Brainiac, who converted him into a half-man, half-machine advance scout with the mission of seeking out strong species across the galaxy. This version debuted in Supergirl #21 (vol. 6) 2013.

This Injustice 2 inspired version of Cyborg Superman isn't the first creation of the character by Prime 1 Studios. Back in January, they also began pre-orders for a comic book inspired take on the character that even had a deluxe version that possessed Zor-El's cybernetic claw.

Cyborg Superman's biggest cross-media role to date is his appearance in the CBS-turned-CW Supergirl TV drama.  Played by David Harewood, season 1 delivered a big surprise by revealing that it was really J'onn J'onzz aka the Martian Manhunter masquerading as Henshaw.  Of course, it's later revealed that the real Hank Henshaw is alive and has been turned into Cyborg Superman. He becomes an ally of Metallo and Lillian Luthor.

Cyborg Superman has also appeared in 3 direct-to-video DC Animated film- the first being  2007's Superman: Doomsday, which was loosely based on The Death of Superman storyline, a true adaptation of the beloved comic book story, 2018's The Death of Superman and its sequel, 2018's Reign of the Supermen.  In the former, the four Superman impostors that follow in the wake of Superman's demise at the hands of Doomsday are streamlined into one clone creation of Lex Luthor.  In the latter, Hank Henshaw appears in human form before making his inevitable transition to Cyborg Superman in Reign of the Supermen.

While Hank Henshaw doesn't truly appear in Injustice: Gods Among Us or Injustice 2, he has appeared in several video games.  The first being 1994's Sega Genesis and SNES video game The Death and Return of Superman, 2002's Superman: The Man of Steel for the Xbox, and the 9th DLC for the free-to-play MMO, DC Universe Online.

Hank Henshaw doesn't truly appear in either the Injustice comic book or the video game (outside of being a premier skin for Superman in the first game), there's still hope for the former astronaut to appear in a potential third Injustice game.   Injustice 2 was the highest-selling title for May 2017 and was reported to have 1/3 higher launch sales than Gods Among Us, selling 1.5 million copies in its first 3 months of release.  While NetherRealm is currently busy with MK 11, don't be surprised if a third Injustice game is announced at EVO or E3.

Henry Cavill would make for a pretty good Cyborg Superman.

Fire the person that wrote this article. Research and knowledge of the source material is integral to maintain journalistic integrity. Cool statue, but hire better journalists.

@Bripod1323 - the thing is, clearly the writer here knows the history regarding Cyborg Superman based on the actual article, but they couldn't take the simple step in looking at the billion labels stating it's JUST Superman.

Someone screwed up royally. This is regular Injustice 2 Superman, not Hank Henshaw. Still hate the horrible character design of Injustice 2.

Like other people are likely to note, this isn’t Cyborg Superman at all. It’s just regular Superman from Injustice 2. Cyborg Superman didn’t play any part of the Injustice games.
