BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA Returning To Theaters For 30th Anniversary; 4K Restoration Trailer Released

Bram Stoker's Dracula was released 30 years ago (hard to believe, eh?), and Francis Ford Coppola's lavish adaptation of the classic tale is returning to theaters in 4K just in time for Halloween...

It may seem hard to believe given how well Francis Ford Coppola's stunning adaptation has held up over the years, but the 30th anniversary of Bram Stoker's Dracula is fast approaching, and the stylish horror film is returning to theatres in 4K for the first time this Halloween.

Starring Gary Oldman (Batman Begins, Harry Potter) as the legendary vampire, Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs, Thor) as Van Helsing, Winona Ryder (Stranger Things) as Mina Harker and Keanu Reeves (The Matrix, John Wick) as her beleaguered husband Jonathan, the film took a lavish, often surreal approach to Stoker's novel.

Though it remained faithful to the original story in most respects, it altered the relationship between the now more sympathetic count and Mina to make them star-crossed lovers, with Dracula crossing the ocean to track down and turn who he believed to be a reincarnation of his late wife.

Though the vampire did also desire Mina in the book, he was depicted as a far more monstrous figure.

Check out a 4K restoration trailer below.

"Count Dracula, a 15th-century prince, is condemned to live off the blood of the living for eternity. Young lawyer Jonathan Harker is sent to Dracula's castle to finalise a land deal, but when the Count sees a photo of Harker's fiancée, Mina, the spitting image of his dead wife, he imprisons him and sets off for London to track her down."

Bram Stoker's Dracula will return to UK cinemas from 7 October, and US cinemas on 23 and 27 October at Fathom Events screenings.

Always liked this movie even with its faults. It's a perfect movie for October.

I’d rather see this again than rewatch Avatar.
This might be my favorite Gary Oldman role and he’s got a lot of great characters in his resume.

Another decent version of Dracula was the one in the Showtime series Penny Dreadful, starring the amazing Eva Green and Miss Vanessa Ives.

This movie rocks. Everything everyone else has already said, but also the use of miniatures and the way Coppola directs the camera and the overlays. it's an incredible piece of filmmaking

Top Dracula’s throughout time I would consider to be

Bela Legosi
Christopher Lee
Gary Oldman
Claes Bang

The Coppola version is probably the most visually rich and technically inventive of them. It’s a huge swing that I think though uneven, really pays off in creating something beautiful and iconic for a new generation of Dracula.

Bela had the first amazing performance that all others are based on
Christopher Lee brought an intimidation and really solidified the character as something that could be timeless

Oldman’s is off the wall but with a sense of sadness Bang’s continues on.

Claes Bang is such a fun and energetic but still threatening performance that bring it to the modern era. There’s depth without forgetting the core of Dracula
