A new horror thriller called The Bride - not to be confused with the upcoming A24 project of the same name starring Scarlett Johansson - is in development at Screen Gems, and the first two cast members have now been announced.

Deadline reports that Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones, Fast 9) And Garret Hedlund (TRON: Legacy, Triple Frontier) have signed on play the leads in the film, which is said to be inspired by Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Jessica M. Thompson (The Light of the Moon) will direct The Bride, which is described as “a contemporary horror thriller that tells the story of a young woman who is courted and swept off her feet, only to realize a gothic conspiracy is afoot.”

Emmanuel is best known for playing Missandei in HBO’s Game of Thrones, and has also appeared in Hulu’s miniseries Four Weddings & a Funeral and Quibi’s Die Hart. She has a lead role in Zack Snyder's upcoming Army of the Dead prequel, Army of Thieves. Hedlund has previously appeared in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Triple Frontier, Mudbound and TRON: Legacy, and is set to star in Ed Harris' upcoming The Ploughman.

This is one of several features in the works either inspired by or based on the exploits of Stoker's legendary vampire, including The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Renfield, and a new adaptation of the classic novel from Eternals and Nomadland director Chloé Zhao.

Hollywood just won't stop reinventing and [frick]ing up Dracula. Stoker nailed it over 100 years ago and ever since it's been a constant barrage of, "Yeah, that was an OK book but wait til you see how much better my version is."

Spoiler, most are garbage.

She can be my Moira Mactaggert.

Moira is a young student at Oxford University. She finds Nathaniel Essex's diary.

The premise sounds like it could be interesting depending on what genre they're going with. As comedy it's a big no, but an advenrure mystery would have my attention.

Also, Hedlund's involvement is another reason to give this a watch. Have yet to see him in a movie I didn't like. Tron, Triple Frontier, but also Mudbound and more recently Unbroken were are all good watches in my opinion.

Man I am an absolute sucker for light skinned girls with curly locks. With that being said I’ll check this out because I like her as an actress as well.
