There's a new take on Dracula in the works for BBC One and Netflix from Sherlock creators Steven Moffat And Mark Gatiss. The pair will write and executive produce a three-part, 90-minute miniseries based on Bram Stoker's classic novel.
“There have always been stories about great evil,” Moffat and Gatiss said in a joint statement. “What’s special about ‘Dracula,’ is that Bram Stoker gave evil its own hero.”
Most of the previous live-action versions of Dracula have leaned heavily into the love story between the vampiric Count and Mina Harker, which really didn't factor into Stoker's book at all (Drac was depicted as a merciless, loathsome monster), so it'll be interesting to see which route this latest adaptation takes.
No premiere date has been announced yet, but Dracula will debut on BBC One in the UK before launching on Netflix in the US and other locations.
