As Halloween inches closer and closer, The BBC and Netflix have unveiled the first official teaser trailer for their upcoming three-part Dracula miniseries, which will star Claes Bang (The Square) as the legendary and undeniably evil vampire from Bram Stoker's classic tale.

The eagerly awaited miniseries hails from Sherlock creators Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, who penned all three chapters, and the project is being described as a way to reintroduce the world to the bloodthirsty king of vampires. While plot details are being kept locked away in a Transylvanian coffin, the series will pick up in 1897 - the same year as the novel's publication - as Count Dracula sets his sights on Victorian London.

Bang will headline the series with a now-confirmed supporting cast that includes John Heffernan (Eye in the Sky), Joanna Scanlan (No Offence), Dolly Wells (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), Sacha Dhawan (Iron Fist), Jonathan Aris (Morgan), Morfydd Clark (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits), Lyndsey Marshal (The League of Gentlemen), Chanel Cresswell (This Is England), Matthew Beard (An Education), Lydia West (Years & Years), Paul Brennen (Happy Valley), Sarah Niles (Catastrophe), Sofia Oxenham (Poldark), John McCrea (God’s Own Country), Phil Dunster (Humans) and newcomer Millicent Wong.

The premiere date has yet-to-be announced, but with the trailer now here, expect to get more news much sooner rather than later. Additionally, while The BBC will air the miniseries in the United Kingdom, Netflix will serve as its distributor in the United States and across the world.

This retelling of the classic story follows Dracula from his origins in Eastern Europe to his battles with Van Helsing's descendent and beyond.
