The cast of The Mummy is pretty impressive, with Tom Cruise taking on a leading role, Russell Crowe set to possibly play Dr. Jekyll, and Kingsman and Star Trek Beyond’s Sofia Boutella set to star as a female version of the titular villain. She can actually be seen in the latest photos from the London set of the movie as she wields a mysterious blade and seemingly takes control of a whole crowd of people.
According to the official synopsis, "Though safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension."
Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are developing this shared universe for the studio (the former is also directing The Mummy), but it having a future no doubt depends mostly on how well things pan out with both this and the other handful of confirmed releases on the way. Thoughts on this first look?
