"You can't run. You can't escape. She's got plans for you."

It's been a long wait, but the official theatrical trailer for Universal Pictures' The Mummy has arrived and it features Tom Cruise facing an evil unlike any he's faced before.

The trailer kickstarts with an intense action sequence where Cruise and Jake Johnson's characters are seen running atop buildings while shooting down a number of enemies before the duo inadvertently unearth an ancient tomb or as Annabelle Wallis' Jenny Halsey puts it "a prison."

We're then treated to more information about the past history of Sofia Boutella's monster before it fast forwards to the present where, just like in the teaser trailer, Nick Morton (Cruise) meets his maker and is then resurrected for reasons unknown. However, Russell Crowe's Dr. Jekyll ominously teases that he's been chosen for something much bigger than he could ever imagine by the forces of evil - the ultimate evil.

The trailer, which is brilliantly set to The Rolling Stones' hit "Paint It Black," then proceeds to take us through the epic and terrifying action as Tom Cruise takes on the Mummy and attempts to prevent a new age of Gods and Monsters, but unfortunately for him, it may already be too late.

Check out the new trailer below:

Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy.

Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The Mummy features:
Director: Alex Kurtzman
Tom Cruise as Nick Morton
Sofia Boutella as Princess Ahmanet/The Mummy
Annabelle Wallis as Jenny Halsey
Jake Johnson as Sgt. Vail
Courtney B. Vance as Colonel Gideon Forster
Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll/Mr. Hyde
Javier Botet as Set
Selva Rasalingam as King Menehptre
Dylan Smith as Lorenzo Montanari
Rez Kempton as Foreman
Chasty Ballesteros as Kira Lee
Marwan Kenzari as Agent of Prodigium
Alaa Saif as Sickle Slave

Looks pretty damn solid. Some creepy horror aspects as well, hopefully there is more of that than pure action. Cruise hasn't let me down with any of his movies, so I'll check this out for sure.

I see they couldn't resist using the same 'face in a tidal wave of sand' trick again...but this time, it's in London....so that's ok...

Yay for originality...

Anyone else think they are going to pull a switcheroo and by the end of the movie Tom Cruise will be the Mummy for the universal monster movies

@V - I've heard a rumor that he is Van Helsing. Didn't look too much into it, but I'd dig that twist.

@Menks123 - That would be cool too but since they don't mention much about who his character is, they must be setting him up to be a classic character (or im totally off) just hope it doesnt suck

@V - Yeah, same lol. This universe has some great talent leading the way acting wise, but the writers rounded up make me skeptical right now.
