Guillermo del Toro Possibly Wants To Take On Van Helsing?

Another telling of the famed vampire hunter is in the works and del Toro is involved..............................................

Pajiba is reporting that Universal is working on a new Van Helsing movie that has no connections to the widely panned Stephen Sommers film of the same name. The new movie is being developed at del Toro's production house and will be based on a forthcoming treatment written by Guillermo del Toro himself. It is being described as an “action horror story.” Since this is just in the treatment stage it will be some time, if ever, that we see this get off the ground.

While del Toro certainly has some familiarity with vampires in his book The Strain and directing Blade 2, there certainly seem to be some other big movies he has been attached to such as Hellboy 3, Deadman, Dr. Strange, Frankenstein and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde that he could get going on now that he has walked away from The Hobbit.

Cap: Amen to that. We'd be lucky to have Del Toro on any CBM. But him directing Doc Strange would be the greatest thing to happen in the history of great things.

And we would be lucky to get Teabag to direct The Avengers XXX

Dr. Strange or Deadman would be great but I'd really like to see the 3rd installment of Hellboy.

A new spin on Van Helsing could be cool if done right.

The main villian can be Ultron after he controls all of Wasp's vibrators and they start attacking our beloved Avengers.

Swamp Thing
Sandman
Tomb of Dracula
Dr. Strange
Hellboy 3

These are the movies he should be doing, not [frick]ing Van Helsing!!! Hell, i'd even LOVE for him to tackle a Never Ending Story remake but... [frick]ing Van Helsing??? [frick] NO!!!

Relax guys... nothing said that GDT was looking at directing this instead of doing anything else, it just said that he was doing a treatment and maybe a script but he may verywell just produce (like he did on The Orphanage) but weather he directs this, Dr. Strange, Deadman or whatever else, I'm sure that whatever he does will be awsome like everthing else he's done up till now.

If you ask me, del Toro could direct a movie about a dog taking a giant crap and it would be an amazing film. Although Van Helsing wouldn't be my favorite choice for him, he'd definitely add a unique spin to the story.

Yes, Hellboy 3, then Dr. Strange, the Castlevania (great idea from above) but really whatever he thinks is the best projects in front of him is the one he should do. I defer to his GENIUS!

i hope does Doctor Strange. he is just the man for the job to bring all of the 'Strange' mysticism to life!!!!
but contrary to popular opinion, i actually liked Van Helsing from 2004 and hope they leave it be.
isn't someone also making a Dracula film?

@blankofthedead - If you are saying this might be a was of his talents compared to other projects, then maybe. If you are saying this will be a bad movie, then HIGHLY UNLIKELY. Haven't seen Del Toro make one of those yet.
