So lately I've been feeling like I've been seeing a lot of Marvelites here on CBM lately. And ya know, I have no quarrel with Marvel fans. To each his own, AMIRITE? But theres a difference between Marvel fans and Marvelites. I'd even go as far as saying that they exist more than Nolanites. And the one thing that pisses my off the most about them, more than anything else, is that they think they and Marvel are better than everyone else. And for that, I wanna stick the Mjolnor up their asses and pull it out through their non-existent dicks (yes, I'm aware of that contradiction).

HARBADARBAGLARBAGLARBA DC characters have no depth ahurhurhur.

When attempting to engage in a conversation with one of these baboons, they will more than likely tell you that Marvel characters are better because they actually have depth. The best way to counter this is by first setting them on fire with the power of 1000 suns. Then proceed to explain how Superman is the most human character of all. How he has to not only hear every cry in the world, and choose which people to save and let die, but he has to go home and be Clark Kent. Ah yes, Clark Kent. Some reporter goon, who is constantly bullied by some bitch named Lois. And you know what? Superman has to deal with all that. Sure, he may get some of that Lois pussy later. But when you think about it, there IS a lot of depth to the man of steel. If they try to bring up X-Men and how they're all freaks trying to live in a world that hates them, just bring up the Doom Patrol. Sort of a grey area.

AIRBALOOBANARGASHOOKA DC characters are overpowered HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE.

Ah yes, the popular misconception that DC characters are OP. Especially when Marvel's big green goon gets stronger, the angrier he gets. And no one can beat him. And how Thor is unbeatable because he's a magical god who wields the same tool as Bob the Builder. When being a god pretty much means nothing in comics. And how Silver Surfer can beat anyone because he has the cosmic powers. Yet is a unic with no silver dick. But yes, DC characters are COMPLETELY overpowered. If they even attempt to bring up this argument, just call up Snoop Dogg and smoke some weed. Because these crazy ass Marvel mofos have gone full jacky.

HAIRGOLOOGOPOOCHOOCHOO DC has lame characters like Aquaman and Plastic Man IWORKFORJOHNGOTTI.

Please refer to Squirrel Girl's defeat of Dr. Doom Dontknowhowtocounterdatshit using her army of squirrels. Yes. And then proceed to shove the New 52 down their eye sockets. And then set them on fire again, with the power of 1000 suns.

I think I've covered everything, quite nicely.

Leave a comment, if you'd like. But be respectful, mofos.

Marvel beats DC. why?
because Daredevil is more badass than Batman. and he's poorer, has less resources. and gets more girls. and doesn't need children to back him up. Also, he his dad was murdered, and his mother pretty much abandoned him! double whammy.

And they are both ninja trained lol.

Oh, and Murdock has a friend, his own age. a real friend. not an old butler, or a little kid.

DC has a major character who had a weakness to the colour yellow...nuff said.

DC characters are just lamer (except Batman) and there's no counter to that.

LEVITIKUZ Marvel has a lot of lying hypocritical bandwagon movie fans like Coldblood6. That wouldn't understand that DC has more awesome characters than just Batman, because most of them haven't picked up a comic book, and aren't true fans. It bothers me that most of them are hypocrites, and give false arguments that are invalid just to keep the blind Marvel sheep blind. BTW The Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, The Sandman, and V for vendetta are better than anything Marvel has ever put out.

@Splenda - Nolanites are gone. Or are rarely seen.

Marvelites or the majority of them, are still here. So yes, it gets old for the other bunch.

marvel fan boys are full of crap. Their characters have superficial flaws (almost cliched) to me that is lazy story telling. DC's stories are generally more compelling, from green lantern to aquaman to superman and batman.

Dc is better in everything else apart from movies but if man of steel does well that will change and I sense most marvel fanboys have this fear.

I think both companies are awesome, but I usually read more DC. I enjoy their heroes and stories just a little bit more. But my top 5 characters are:
1: Superman
2: Batman
3: Spider-Man
4: Hulk
5: Wolverine

So out of my top 5 characters, 3 are Marvel. So it all kind of balances out.

@Tonytony - "DC's stories are generally more compelling, from green lantern to aquaman to superman and batman."

Fans of Marvel won't see this for how fans of DC see it. Marvel has a lot of emphasis on action and crossovers for their stories. That's why when they see a single Batman or Superman title, they just pick at how slow the pace of the story is, or just really being pessimistic about DC. None what so ever trying at least to get invested in the characters, but just look up Wiki and get their answers. Some say they read DC comics but are Marvel fans first, seem to me are just fair-weather fans gaining knowledge on another property just to defend themselves in a flame war.

Or that's how I see how CBM members work. This whole "overpowered" bullshit is hypocritical pessimism.

It's just that Marvel has utilized their characters in an engaging manner on the big screen. If DC did the same thing, lots of people would be "DCites" or whatever.

Personally I read both, but favor Marvel characters - they are just what I grew up on.

I do however think that the Justice League is overpowered, Superman, a Green Lantern ring, Martian Manhunter and Batman with Prep time? C'mon

Batman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman have all been great reads but DC needs to step up their game with Superman as a franchise. I've been trying to get into the books since 2008 but they've just been terrible.

As for the whole Nolanite thing I don't understand wouldn't a Nolanite be more concerned about Nolan's next project as opposed to DC or Batman?

It's funny how people used to bitch about the arrogance of TDK fans but now everywh

Waa Waa Waa... Keep whining. Or better yet, run to your Mommy and tell her how mean all these Marvelites are. Or better yet, maybe you can have her beat them all up.
When you write crap like this- "AIRBALOOBANARGASHOOKA DC characters are overpowered HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE."- do you really expect to be taken seriously??

Time to grow up, put your pants on like a man, and go build a bridge to get over it.

I never understood the need to choose one over the other to begin with. Your points are correct concerning the OLD DCU, but the vast majority of the New 52 is shallow, pandering crap (IMO)...not that Marvel isn't increasingly doing the same. Bottom line is ANY character is viable and engaging with good storytelling

Im a marvel guy for the most part, not because I think they are better, just different. In the big crossover they explained some of the differences. DC characters do tend to be more powerful. Marvel has a few overpowered characters, but not like dc. Most metas in dc have multiple powers, where if you compare it to mutants only tend to have one. Hell supes used to come up with new powers on the fly, only to never use that power again. The downside to overpowered characters is they have to have some kind of weakness or there is no danger. I prefer the lesser powered beings of either company, but I happen to like marvels more. Give me a good anti hero anyday over a boy scout. I think dc does better boy scouts than antiheroes, but then again this is just my preference.

tonytony
tonytony - 4/4/2013, 10:22 AM
I read dc because i prefer the stories. The criticism of most people who criticise superman or any dc character is that they dont actually read the comics. If they did they would realise that each characters has his or her own issues. Superman comics are very different to batman comics where batman is fighting street crime, superman comics tend to be on a much bigger scale and the villains he fights very different and more powerful. Same with wonder woman and green lantern. No one can tell me that wonder woman is more powerful than say thor or green lantern more powerful than say silver surfer or hawkman more than say the hulk, to me its just cheap lazy and quite frankly incorrect insults.

DC Comics should be really called "Batman And Those Other People Comics." I mean hell, DC stands for Detective Comics, a clear reference to Batman for Pete sake.

To be honest after reading this I lost a little respect for this sight. I understand you're strongly for DC but at least talk a little bit more professionally. And to top it off you ask us to respond respectfully after you openly talked down on one of the sides. This just sounds like a high schooler's rant after going home from this same debate and someone probably argued better than you did and now you're using any fallacy that you can think about.

If you were going to make an editorial that makes us debate over something as common but popular as well. You could of made your words more open than so one sided. Or just have someone else write it.

Actually, you're right. I wrote this article to piss off some Marvelites. And you know what? I feel like I've accomplished that, if nothing else.

But no, I don't think Stewart was the first Lantern. HAL JORDAN FOR LIFE, MOFO.
