Thank You CBM...

Thank You CBM...

After trying to post numerous articles on CBM, I have come to the conclusion that this site has become a popularity contest.

Editorial Opinion

Many a time some coward has chosen to delete my post only to have the same column appear shortly under a rewritten scoop. This is unfortunate for people who try to be a small part of this site. I do not know how the editors are chosen but they sure seem to me to be cowards to delete someone's items that they spend time on and not be decent enough to let them know why it's deleted. So with that said: I hope to sporadically continue to entertain with some of my silly pictures in the comment sections. Good Luck to the Multi's,Marvel Freshmans,Rorshach's and the rest of you who seem to be running this site. Thanks for your time and...go ahead delete this one too...

CBM Insert:

RedSkullGeezer,
I notified you myself that your most recent article was one of several duplicates that I had to delete. It may be that you're not using the same email that you signed up with? Or maybe that you have a junk filter that is overly active?

While it is unfortunate to have to delete user submissions, we cannot allow the site to become overrun with multiple postings of the same story, OR "less than professional" submissions. But we have gone to great lengths to tell people what we're looking for, and the best way to keep from being deleted. See our style guide here:
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/about-us/style-guide/

Instead of looking at the successful posters as competitors in a "popularity contest," I suggest that you look at what they are doing and emulate them. Our over arching rule about submissions is that the good ones get the exposure.

One thing that everyone needs to realize about our little website is that it is a completely new thing on the web. We aren't a messageboard, but we're allowing the users to contribute with as much freedom AS a messageboard. But make no mistake, we are the site owners and we will decide what is good enough to remain. If you aren't up to the challenge of producing great content then go back to the messageboards where nobody will edit you.

It seems pretty fair here to me. I mean I've had a few articles removed, but it was usually because it was a double post. It looked like mine was first, but then I'd check the article number on the web address and find that the other post had an earlier number. It sucks that they didn't make it before the others, but that's how it is. You have to figure that we're all just recycling news, unless it's an editorial or a fan cast you can bet that someone on here read the same article you did, and that person might beat you to it, even by just a fraction of a second. But thems' the breaks.

I don't post articles because it would upset me to be deleted, but just because someone post an article first doesnt' make it better. I'm sure CBM has screwed up on that a few times, since there have been some terrible and pointless articles. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep reading the few good articles and the other FIRST posted crap ones that have been on here.

thwhtGuardian - 12/14/2009, 7:43 PM
How do you know the ones that got deleted were any better?
The way I see it, at the end of the day this place isn't about whose articles make the front page or even whose articles get picked(it's not as if any of is making any money at this), what matters is just sharing our opinions with a group of like minded people. Writing the articles is fun, but commenting and discussing things is why I really come here. Like I said it's not like there is any exclusive news here, it's all recycled from other sites, I could get the news anywhere else, I come here for the conversation. You can't lose sight of that.

I've not found another website anywhere, on any subject, like this one. Even when our members light into each other about something, there is a sense of comardery between them. There aren't alot of hard feelings or bashing allowed at this site, and I find that refreshing to say the least.
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 12/14/2009, 8:04 PM
most of the time if you leave a polite comment on the other article you get a response from the editor. It's only when you're really petulant about your article being removed that you get attitude from the editors.Kind words go a long way.
An email notification would be nice though, but on the other hand I'm okay with how it is now.

I agree Hawksblueeyes, I mean not to sound like a member of the mutual admiration society, but on the whole every one is pretty chill here.

i just started up my fansite last week. so far i have had one article deleted. which just happened to be the first one i posted.
it was reporting in on the new Dracula movie. i guess CBM thought it wasn't a CBM. whatever the case, i have posting more and more articles.
thankfully, two or three of my articles have appeared on the What's New section.

like what some others said, i wouldn't mind some notification on why my article was taken down. or moved. but hey, play the cards you're dealt.

RedSkullGeezer, keep posting up articles and i'll try to read them before they are gone.

I had a conversation before with Jim about just letting the person know before or after why the article is being deleted. He never responded to that question but he did fight me to the death about something else that was completely idiotic.

I for one don't even look at who brings in the article unless it's an editorial, fan fic/art or reviews. As long as it's news that is somewhat valid and not tabloid shit, i read the article and comment to it, period. I don't go revering the author unless his or her writing blows my pants off. But i can understand the frustration that would come from getting your hard worked article deleted, that's the name of the game i guess. It's also why i don't go fishing for news unless i'm paid for it. I prefer sticking to my thoughts and art. If fishing for news is really what you like to do, then persevere. You're bound to make the front page eventually. The regular guys can't be everywhere at the same time. Just stick to the style-guide and you should be fine. And don't quit making funny pictures, yours are the best, RedSkullGeezer!!! :))

Sorry Geezer but maybe the other articles are just better and have more information. Heck, if this is how you react to it I can understand why they would junk your stuff over other, more professional people.

I have posted several articles that were deleted...and each time I was always notified as to WHY they were deleted. I have also had a couple articles make to the front page. Just keep on truckin and submitting! This is truly a very unique website, in many ways, and I think we're lucky to be the ones essentially putting it together!

Just keep plugging away.

I've done articles that have been duplicates to. So after noticing it I delete it myself. But never had an article deleted that i can recall. Some of them haven't gotten as many hits as I would of liked. I do like other peoples input.

Do you guys think that its ironically funny that RedSkullGeezer tries to post a complaint about how is articles never make it on the site... and then the complaint makes it on the main page?

Looks like everyone's favorite purple world-eater has a pretty good sense of humor.

I posted my first and unique editorial weeks ago, without a front pic and without a subtitle. So one of the editors was so gentle to add the title to my article and to correct some of little mistakes i did. I read this site every day,and always enjoy it. Long life and prosperity :-)

RED @ Didn't see your article dude, soz, just come from GALACTUS'S one in main!

Damn dude, it does happen, ive had two deleted the same day. Don't give up doing them though dude, yours are pretty fun!!

It is a pity though that no one can really put the quality and time they want in articles becoz ya know someone ones seen the same news an probably typing it up as fast as they can to get it out too, though i do try an keep the quality in there, its all a damn race sometimes. Have spent a lot of time on articles just to get beat. I normally delete mine myself if i seen it already done.

Personally i stay away from SSH and MTV coz everyone goes there an you get beat anyway most of the time, so it ain't really worth going there or using 'em.

Anyway stick in there man, an you aways crack me up with the TACKLE & TICK PICS!!! ; D

RedSkull don't give up man. We all enjoy everyones contributions. I have only contributed once to this site because once I find some news worth spreading someone beats me to the punch. Thats what makes CBM such a great place. The friendly competition. Where else on the web do you find people who love/hate Cbm's like we do? We join because we all have a comnon love for comics. I'm never first to post a comment (I always lose that battle too)but I'm always eager to read what everyone thinks. The comment section of the articles is what I consider the true contribution section. I look forward to your next post AND hopefully Ill be the first to post a comment.

That's also why I don't post articles on here. Every time I get close to finding something new AND have it written out, BOOM, someone already has it posted. Oh well. I still love CBM.com. Question: how long has this site been going on?

Update on TheMYTH from his friend Chris AKA Humbled:

“Apparently they have found a slow working balance between the 2 and now all 3 major tumors are about 20% smaller than they were when he came in…. On top of that, he was able to have a few hours of real consciousness yesterday morning. He spent it with his new son who he'd not met until then. I sat in the corner of the room the whole time just watching the most resilient person to ever face their own mortality. Even though any who could see him could tell he was in considerable pain, his humor and wit were still intact. Doctors say if no more complications come along, he might be able to be home about Christmas time and continue his treatment through outpatient. Apparently this type of cancer is typically treated this way…. When this first started a little over a month ago he had less than 2% survival chance, now it's a 1-in-4. I'm sure Myth would have something to say about the power of the collective consciousness of humanity after reading this article and being able to see just how many people are rooting for him.”

He includes a poem from theMyth’s own writings.

He also mentions The Myth’s stories and fan fics and Myth’s family:

” I told Amanda (MYTH’s wife) about this article and she viewed it. She said she was at a loss for words and couldn't see to type a comment. She said that this was something phenomenal and it would leave even 'Myth' at a loss for words. I'm sure she'll be back soon to give thanks. “

Keep posting guys for MYTH and his family, they need all the strength and encouragement and well wishes and love they can get now. The MYTH is still alive and fighting, so cheer the man on!
