Fighting robots, lazers coming out of eyeballs, green men...what plot?

Ranting can mean so much too so many. A primary concern, however, is how mainstream the rant is and how classified your actual opinions are.

Truth in point, Transformers: ROTF was just voted worst movie of 2009. I assume it is because of little in terms of plot. With CGI covering the entire screen and talking airplanes' battling semi-trucks, how can a plot matter? My gripe is the fact that everyone is bitching about no plot, megan fox is retarded, etc., but does anyone realize that you are watching talking robots that are automobiles? How can you not take it at face value?

Origin stories and factual information unfortunately take a backseat in Hollywood. But all in all, no one seems to understand that making talking semi-trucks seem interesting and part of the story is difficult. Bitching about "plot lines" and "tie-ins" not being sufficient in a talking robot movie is like asking for fresh, unmelted butter on the sun. What you are basically asking for is pretty tough if not impossible.

RELAX you of CBM world, of course we want our movies to be intriguing and fascinating but come on...they are talking robots! Live a little, take it for what it's worth and have fun with it!

Plot is key in every movie even ones with giant robots. The problem is that they focused way too much with the human characters. I know its cuz of budget and time restraints but they could have done better by making these films entirely cgi and they would still make money. Don't use the "you don't get it" card on us. The fans of transformers and mad because the characters are misused, racial insensitivity throughout the film, and not to mention plot holes and continuity issues. Michael Bay can't direct these movies properly, he even said b4 the first one he wouldn't do some stupid toy movie. We want a movie devoted to the giant robots. There's a great and epic story buried under all the crap Bay shovels on top of it. This franchise can be done right in proper hands, and give them more conventional means of making them look better. I seen youtube clips of people making transformers and those were a 1000x better than what was on screen. I like to be entertained but I don't wanna be treated as the typical movie goer that will see something because it looks cool or has something in it that you know is fake but can go along with it. The prawn in District 9 were more conventional and realistic than the Transformers and D9 was made with a 30million dollar budget. We can't let idiots like Bay ruin good franchises like Transformers, thats why I'm not gonna see the third one because they will ruin it completely by making up even more BS than the second one. also origin stories dont take a back seat, franchise films require an origin...look at all the comicbook movies that have origin stories, good or bad, they set up this world and its characters then they can develop it more with its sequels.

So that means a guy that dresses up like a bat shouldn't have been done so realistically? Just because it's talking robots doesn't give the movie a free ride to suck. Don't let that confuse you though, I enjoyed this movie, but it did fall short. Robot heaven was ridiculous, as well as the Washington DC scene where they blast out of the museum only to be in a desert? Some things just can't be excused, I don't care if the movie is about talking cheese burgers, I still want continuity and a plot that doesn't take such extreme measures for a twist that makes no sense.

Agreed the movie fell short in many ways, but all in all, it's what a Transformers movie should look and feel like

@sage....i want transformers movie that i can distinguish good guy from bad guy besides the FREAKING TINY EYES. they all look like walking pieces of scrap when they grapple, which in the cartoon was a rare occurrence. it was like rock em sock em robots: THE MOVIE

I agree with BlackAir too, like the first movie when you had more than one robot on screen it was nearly impossible to tell one from another, even when they did the slow-mo scene it was still just as confusing. I did feel that this movie did a little better distinguishing one bot from another but I think pushing the elements a little more to help clarify would be better then going ultra realism.

they need to use the robots as people and just build a good story not so much action look at the first film thats what it needs to be like the second film used way to much cussing and joking,and action. they need to focus on story,and character build up.

The fact that we are watching talking robots that are automobiles does in no way dismiss the need for plot. It's not enough to just see some really cool CG action sequences...they're meaningless if there isn't a compelling reason for them to happen, or if you don't really care who wins because you have no attachment to the characters what so ever.
