The Schmoes report that Max Landis (Chronicle) is currently writing the script for the big screen reboot of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers tv show, and has just turned in a draft to the movie's producers, Jim Miller, Alison Shearmur and Haim Saban. That's all we have to go on for now, but chances are Landis will have something to say about this one way or the other, so keep an eye out for updates. This new take on the Power Rangers is described as: "A re-imagining of the original Power Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with cool and new super powers but must learn to work together as a team and harness their powers if they have any chance at saving the world."

Michael Bay would be perfect for power rangers (I can't believe I just said Bay would be perfect for something)

If done correctly, this could be Chronicle/X-Men meets Pacific Rim!

I could almost picture what Lionsgate would do with the Power Rangers, and altough it would be really cool, throwing someone in like Landis would be pretty interesting.

Is it normal to shit yourself laughing? I'm sure it was an exaggeration, but if that's ever happened to someone on here I'd get that checked out.

I cloud see this happening, even if Max Landis is a self-absorbed, obnoxious, know-it-all twat

I'd like for them to reimagine the Power Rangers as some kind of a young version of the Avengers. Each of them with his and her personality, with overall light tone but some pretty dark moments.

Yea i agree, Michael Bay is good a blowing shit up, so technically power rangers suits him. Power Rangers has always been corny and goofy, the new movie might as well embrace it.

@Doopie Has a multi million dollar making franchise just been given to another company? No it hasn't.

I hope he is. After his ASM baloney, I hope every movie he makes is something I have no interest in seeing. Jagoff.

If true, great news! Landis hates making all villains sympathetic. So maybe we'll be looking at a ruthless threat.

That would be healthy if and only when, this scene makes it's way onto the big screen in this new reboot:

I hope Bay direct this movie, that way everyone will say it's bad but it will make a lot of money so he can keep doing more movies that will make even more money because everyone hates them

James Cameron should direct it, he'll definitely do the CG justice and I'm sure he'll be able to get someone competent enough to make the choreography good.

I like this. The guy might be a douche but he is a fantastic writer and I cannot wait to see what he does with this. If they bring on Joe Cornish to direct I will be fully on board. But bringing in Landis alone makes me think they are taking this seriously
