POWER RANGERS BEAST MORPHERS Season 2 Trailer Confirms The Return Of Original Red Ranger Austin St. John

The legendary Red Ranger is back.

After being rumored for a return back in May, Hasbro confirmed today during their San Diego Comic-Con presentation that Austin St. John will indeed reprise his role as Jason Lee Scott, the original Mighty Morphin Red Ranger, in an mega crossover episode of Power Rangers: Beast Morphers next year.

The new trailer offers a first look at Jason back in action and reveals that the episode won't air until 2020 as part of the second season of Beast Morphers. The team-up will see the Mighty Morphin, Dino Thunder and Dino Charge teams partner up with the Beast Morphers to take on their most dangerous adversary yet. No word yet on whether any of the other original cast members will make their way back to the now Hasbro-owned series.

Jason originally debuted in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers before leaving midway through the second season due to contract disputes. He later returned to play the fan-favorite Gold Ranger in Power Rangers Zeo and also appeared in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie before making his last appearance in the Power Rangers Wild Force ten-year anniversary episode, "Forever Red."

Scientists combine a substance called “Morph-X” with animal DNA to create the Power Rangers Beast Morphers. The Rangers must fight off an evil computer virus bent on taking over the source of Ranger power, the Morphin Grid.

@blitzkreg - it’s called metabolism, it slows down. Making it harder to stay in shape. Why do u think you see few actually fit 30 and up people.

@blitzkreg - dude he's not even acting regularly anymore. He's a paramedic now. He doesn't exactly have the same need/ability to stay in shape like his mighty morphin days.

Man they are bringing up Jason, and that is cool I was a huge Jason fan as a kid, but what about the possible return of Billy Cranston. He is the only one who ever wore the Blue Mighty Morphin Power Ranger suit. When he stopped being a power ranger was in Zeo and they changed to new suits. So if that team up shot is real then that has to be Billy. David Yost aka Billy supposedly was constantly harassed by the production crew over being gay and supposedly considered suicide at one point. So if he has been brought back to reprise his role as the original Blue Ranger then that is so awesome.

@pesmerga44 - As said David Yost doesn't like remembering Power Rangers due to the production crew harassing him about being gay.
He keeps in contact with his former cast mate's who were supportive of him being gay but given how he was treated it's unlikely he would ever be willing to return.

@pesmerga44 - Damn I never knew that about Billy and that’s disgusting that they treated him that way.

@pesmerga44 - That's pretty sad. He was great as Billy. Shame on them.

@ClarkFarley2012 @DevarikaWoulf -

Here's some context about it. It seems like it really took a toll on him.

This looks so damn corny as always but I'll be damned if seeing Jason doesn't give me chills.

.....The black dude is the Red Ranger? Goddamnit...Where was that when I actually watched Power Rangers a decade ago.

@BlackStar25 - The first black man to be the red ranger was T.J. back in Turbo after he took the mantle from Tommy. He is like the 5th black man to play the red ranger and like the 6th man of color to play the red ranger. T.J. was the first in Turbo, then Shane Clark in Ninja Storm, then Jack Landors in the SPD, then RPM, then Dino Charge, and now Beast Morphers.

Despite what the show has become (and arguably has always been minus the 90s nostalgia), great to see the franchise FINALLY start to embrace the shows rich history.

Being the first team up under Hasbro, I wonder how they'll treat it? Saban has always been criticized by how poorly they handled their special episodes in terms of bringing back actors and screentime (generally due to penny pinching). Hopefully Hasbro will give it more care.

Are we just going to ignore the return of the original Pink Ranger?
Something that so far in the series's history has never happened. Not sure if that is Kimmerly or Kat but either way it is awesome.
