POWER RANGERS: New Concept Art For Elizabeth Banks' Green Ranger Suit Has Been Unearthed

Thanks to a combination of early promotional and set photos, many were able to correctly predict that Rita Repulsa was indeed the original Green Ranger in Lionsgate's Power Rangers, but most were still surprised to see Elizabeth Banks fully-morphed as the infamous sixth ranger in the film's Cenozoic prologue. Now, while a sequel is anything but a sure thing, it's likely we'll see this suit return in some form as she passes on her powers to Tommy Oliver (or to a female iteration of the former fan-favorite).

Earlier this week, Weta Workship digital sculptor/concept artist Lindsey Crums released never-before-seen original concept art for the film, giving us our best look at the Green Ranger suit in all its glory. Check out the art below:

Plus, here's additional concept art of the Red and Black Rangers:

Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

Power Rangers features:
Director: Dean Israelite
Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott, the Red Ranger
Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger
Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor, the Black Ranger
RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston, the Blue Ranger
Becky Gomez as Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger
Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa
Bryan Cranston as Zordon
Bill Hader as Alpha 5
David Denman as Sam Scott
Anjali Jay as Maddy Hart
Emily Maddison as Rebecca
Patrick Sabongui as Mr. Kwan
Lisa Berry as Candace Cranston
Caroline Cave as Beverly Scott
Kayden Magnuson as Pearl Scott
Sarah Grey as Amanda

Power Rangers is out on 4K Ultra HD & Blu-ray NOW!

Sooooo... if they make a sequel, and another person becomes th green ranger, does it have to be a girl? I mean, what if the cup size and/or shoe size doesn't fit the character? Will there be an in-universe explanation? Maybe it will be a guy, but he will enjoy dressing as a woman! Eddie Izard as the Green Ranger! Make it happen!

The coolest part of the Green Ranger costume has always been the gold shield. Why the hell would they do away with it?!

@Parker00 - maybe they didn't put it onto Rita's green ranger suit just in case they introduce Tommy. The chest armour would help to distinguish him from Rita.

@Fishandchips - Makes sense. I feel so strangely about this film. I enjoyed it, especially the cast, I'd be quite interested in a sequel but at the same time, I found the action(note, I'm not complaining about all the action being at the end, I dug that fact) pretty underwhelming when it should've been one of the biggest selling points. That and I wasn't thrilled with the odd choices for Zord designs. A six legged Mastodon?!

An okay film, with some good Ideas.
A bit adult and scary for young Children also wasn't sure who the audience was?
RJ Cyler is a talented actor though, can see him do well in a comic movie.

It's funny I just rented this a couple days ago. I actually enjoyed it I thought it was slot better than expected. It was a good blend of serious and cheesy. This from a guy who thought it looked trash from the beginning. I like that it actually took chances and do the same shit we seen over and over again.

For the sequel, the green ranger has to have the gold shield. It looks weird without it, it also makes Tommy different from the other Rangers. Maybe it holds off Rita from controlling Tommy also?

@superbigguy32 - If I remember correctly. In the flashback sequence she did have gold shoulders.

@naxes - I don't remember seeing any gold on the shoulders. I watch the movie almost everyday, since I brought it on blu-ray.

I think the entire movie was worth it just for the scene with Rita in the jewelry store.

I still can't figure out why they thought it would be a good idea to resurrect this franchise. The original was fun and all, but I feel it's pretty obvious that todays audiences were never going to embrace it.

They never really did give a good look at her Green Ranger suit. The movie had some cool stuff, and was actually very Power Rangers-y, but in a way I guess I've just gotten a little too old to appreciate the humor/tone at times. Banks was way too over the top, which also made her a perfect match for the Rita of old, so I can't lay into her performance too much in that regard.

We were pleasantly surprised by this film. It had the ham of the original while bringing in some new concepts and stuff. Our only bitch is the actress who played Trini. She was [frick]ing terrible. We think a slug would have more life than her.

most underrated film of the year, wished for the sequel they keep the suits simple, of course there gonna update the suits to cheaper doubt it will be high budget if a sequel happens. so what if the movie had different tones thats what makes a movie good.for me. hope they go with serious but with humor. i want serious power rangers not campy and cheesy.
