After years of rumours, Rockne O'Bannon has finally confirmed that a Farscape movie is actually happening. The show was cancelled back in 2003 and a mini-series titled Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars was aired in 2004 to provide closure to the fans but it appears we shall be getting more Farscape in the near future. Confirmation comes from TV.com's Ed Shrinker who had a friend that attended the Showrunners panel at Wondercon which O'Bannon was apart of.

Just a little bit of, maybe interesting, information to report. ;-p Texting me from WonderCon, a very good friend of mine (@PaulBurrows) just left the Showrunners Panel at [WonderCon]. A panel member, non other than Rockne O'Bannon, the co-creator ofWarehouse 13, Defiance, and Revolution... who was also Farscape's creator and showrunner - has indeed CONFIRMED a Farscape movie is happening.

Nerdacy.com then spoke to O'Bannon who confirmed that the script is currently being written by a former writer for the series, Justin Monjo.

"Yeah, yeah it's the worst kept secret…We're far from production, but yeah, the first step is Justin [Monjo] working on a script for us. We'll keep our fingers crossed."

Tor.com provided the rumoured plot for the film back in February:

Set to follow the awesome comics written by our favorite Keith R.A. DeCandido, the film would follow John and Aeryn's son, D'Argo (or Little D, as we will always refer to him). Because their baby was exhibiting a set of interesting powers that made him a magnet for galactic villains, we find that John and Aeryn hide their son on Earth to grow up. Now the kid is 19 and ready to go into space with his parents.

There is currently no word whether or not the original cast will return but I don't think they'll be too busy not to join the film. Are you excited to see the return of John Crichton of the gang? Or were to satisfied with the 2004 mini-series?

Thrown into a distant part of the universe, an Earth astronaut finds himself part of a fugitive alien starship crew. Farscape (1999–2003) is an Australian and American science fiction television series, produced originally for the Nine Network. The series was conceived by Rockne S. O'Bannon and produced by Jim Henson Productions and Hallmark Entertainment.

Interesting. It was a weird series but very thought provoking... excellent watch for anyone with the time. I was pretty satisfied with Peacekeeper Wars though, I dont know if my interest level will be there for a younger cast focus.

Your loss IcemanX. People these days have gotten so spoiled by today's special effects. It's damaging their ability to enjoy older classics.

I could see this being good if it's to become a movie franchise. Instead of a new Farscape TV movie. The world needs more puppet films.

Seeing more of what Jim Henson Productions can bring to the big screen would be great. I hope if this does well they can finally be able to bring the movie Happytime Murders out. It was to be a Who Framed Roger Rabbit like movie but with Puppets instead.

Farscape was the bomb!! Pretty awesome series.

Farscape > Firefly. I said it folks!

I AM curious though, where they're going to take the story, since some of the unresolved plot points have been dangling for 9 odd years now..

D'Argo Sun-Crichton is gonna be the most badass 9 year-old in the Uncharted Territories.

@ All the Haters and Nonbelievers

I don't even know what to say. You're missing out on one of the greatest and weirdest sci-fi shows ever made. You should give it a chance (the first season is a little rough, but it really picks up once they bring Chiana onboard around episode 10, then Season 2 onward is epic). Seriously. Better than Firefly, better than Battlestar Galactica.

Way back, this TV show was awesome!!! I agree that younger guys won't get full enjoyment after being spoilt by today's CGI. Great characters, great villains and worth revisiting.

Farscape remains my favorite show of all time. It was as influential to me growing up as any piece of fiction can be on a person. I love every frame of every episode with the passion of a white hot sun...

...so you can only imagine how much as it pains me to say that this will probably bomb badly. If this is going done like Serenity (as in, fairly large budget and wide theatrical release) it will do much much worse than Serenity did. Farscape has a smaller, less vocal fanbase than Firefly does, the canon is infinitely more convoluted, it's been a decade since it's been on TV in the US, and there is pretty much zero star power in it.

On the other hand, if they make a movie for 15M to 20M and it does well overseas (Farscape always was an international endeavor), maybe this is testing the waters for a TV revival... There may be some renewed interest in it from the people at SciFi (now Syfy), as they're doing a Henson Creature reality show. Or maybe it has something to do with Pivot suddenly heavily syndicating it (in order and not in the middle of the night).

I haven't been this jazzed about anything in a long time. Yeah, the MCU is awesome and I'm occasionally hopeful that WB will figure out some way to make the DCCU into something great. But this is really really special news to me.

I'm just going to leave this here and quit posting. Everyone has something that that love so much they can't stop talking about it once they start. Farscape is my thing. At the same time, I don't want to make this whole thread just me gushing, so I'll just leave this one last thing here and stop.

I hardly recognised Ben when he appeared in Arrow as Diggle's former superior.
