The highly in demand Cumberbatch spoke at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour the other day about his roles in Steven Spielberg's War Horse and the currently airing second season of Sherlock. But of course a Star Trek question slipped in there. Unfortunately, thought not surprisingly, he wasn't able to reveal anything except how happy he is at being cast..
"There's a lawyer standing here saying that I can't say anything. I'm hugely, hugely excited and I'm very, very flattered. I'm very, very excited, but obviously I'm not here to talk about that. I will, in the future, I'm sure. I'm just getting my head around the fact that it's happened. If you'll forgive me, I'll pass on that. But my headline is that I'm over the moon."
Word is that Cumberbatch is playing the villain, but J.J Abrams would not confirm this when speaking earlier today about the movie which will shoot this Thursday. In some related news, this week's ep of
Sherlock aired on BBC tonight in The UK and lo and behold it contained a quick
Star Trek reference. A nervous Sherlock Holmes is jokingly called "Spock" by Watson (Martin Freeman). Check out the video over at
