New STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Poster Unveiled; Tickets Go On Sale In The UK Tomorrow

"Earth Will Fall" in a new(ish) Star Trek Into Darkness poster that puts the spotlight on Benedict Cumberbatch's 'John Harrison'. Also, Paramount has today announced that tickets will go on sale in the UK at 9.05 am tomorrow morning.

Paramount Pictures’ hotly anticipated summer release, “STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS” will be opening its box office tomorrow in the UK and Ireland for advanced bookings, ahead of the release on the 9th May. The tickets will be available from 9.05am tomorrow, and are expected to sell fast! As one of the most anticipated releases of the year, according to GQ.com, fans around the country will be keen to get their hands on the tickets as early as possible.

“STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS” is written by Damon Lindelof, Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and directed by J.J. Abrams. Abrams is producing with Bryan Burk through Bad Robot Productions, along with Lindelof, Kurtzman and Orci.

^Same here. And it sucks because I really like Benedict Cumberbatch, and I'd love to see him play a Star Trek villain, but that doesn't really look like what 's happening here.

Strange. I've been anticipating this film and assuming it's greatness even though I haven't really seen anything spectacular about it. I've been wanting to see it purely on the steam of the first film.

I do like that clip where Kirk is flying the ship thru tight spots. It reminds me of the type of situations the STAR WARS gang used to get into. Lucas tried to keep that alive in the prequels but he lost his touch.

I was never a huge Star Trek fan, just had a passing knowledge/enjoyment of TNG, but I absolutely loved the previous Star Trek movie, and I think it fit in pretty well (considering it's an alternate universe and all), and perhaps the alterations made to the universe such as the timeline were made to accommodate the fact that the timeline of the previous universe clashed with real life.

For example, by 1993 in the original Star Trek universe, super-soldiers such as Khan had been created, and started a massive war which ended in 1996. Now that we've lived the 1990s, we know that's not true, so that universe is inconsistent. The alternate universe, as well as letting us see younger versions of the characters go on new adventures without conflicting the original series, also presented an opportunity to fix the timeline for this new generation of Star Trek viewers.

I'm really looking forward to Into Darkness, based on my enjoyment of the previous film, and also because Benedict Cumberbatch is in it and he's awesome. I do agree that this movie is giving off a different vibe than most Star Trek stuff, but I don't think it's totally inconsistent - it's just a reflection of the story-line taking a darker turn based on a more threatening villain.

C'mon guys, play nice. In some way, every movie and game these days is derivative. It's hard to be original when everything has been done.

I feel like the plot for this movie is more mainstream then the original. The difference between Trekkies and casual fans is the fact that the Trekkies are going to watch this through the eyes of a fan who's seen everything from James Shatner fighting Leonard Nimoy, to Data laughing when an Android could never laugh properly.

The only movie I can think off where Earth actually falls is the beginning of Team America: World Police.
Does JJ Abrams have the guts to do that in this movie?

fettastic - What so your actually telling me that star trek copied itself, not batman..........Suprised? Of course they copy itself because it's........oh wait it's the same series.

The only point that guy is anything past is interest is a copy of something but breaking news movies came out before the dark knight.
