It's a Star Trek rule, any non-main character who wears a red shirt will probably die. It happened in the last movie too, during the sky-jump scene. It's painfully obvious watching it that he's going to die (unknown character who has never been mentioned before sent along with two established main characters, and he's the only one wearing red, so he's bound to be killed off).

If Kirk was smarter, he'd stop allowing his crew to wear red, which could reduce casualties. Or maybe he allows them to wear red because it guarantees his own safety as a yellow shirt.

This looks so good, possibly my most anticipated summer movie, along with Man Of Steel.

I liked the first one but the hype for this franchise was not strong enough to outlast the gap between the first and second movies. The first one has already been forgotten in my eyes. Maybe i will change my mind when i see it because i dont even think the trailers do it justice.

@canon10...Uhura and Scotty wear red shirts, but Chekov wears a gold shirt...just thought I'd clarify that, and ACira is correct, anyone in a red shirt is most likely going to die, unless they are a member of the main crew..The colors were: gold - command (including navigation and weaponry); red - operations (including engineering, security, and ship's services); and blue - sciences (including medicine).

Uhura's wearing a wetsuit in that picture. There's some underwater action in this new movie. I've seen some pics with several of the cast members wearing them.

Then in next generations it's all the yellow shirts because security offers tend to put themselves in combat. A lot less red shirts died in next generation. Though they did get burned by exploding panels a lot.

@SuspenseSmith You're right. I guess it's custom now-a-days to have the villain captured and imprisoned at one point in the movie.

I wonder... why? would directors shoot them photos, particularly the ones where the guards (with guns) are escorting the prisoners, with their backs turned to them. You never escort a prisoner with your back to them. The only one that got it right was the photo in the Man of Steel.

Excited to see this movie. Also, a lot of redshirts are gonna die it looks like. It's probably also bad to mention that they all only have 2 days until retirement

It´s always awesome when a big Star Trek ship falls into a planet, happened twice in the movies and in one Voyager episode.
