Speaking to radio show My Geek Time, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman - who were co-writers/producers of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot - talk about the possibility of another Trek animated series. Back in May, Orci confirmed that a new animated series is being 'talked about', but in the following transcripts (courtesy of Trek Movie), he and Kurtzman talk in more detail concerning the possibility of another Star Trek animated series...

Orci: We have asked about [an animated Star Trek series]. We have asked what the rights are and who owns it and what are the possibilities. It is a very early – kind of "is this a possibility?" and we are waiting to hear back. But we would love to do it.

Kurtzman: We just had the experience of doing Transformers: Prime on The Hub. We learned a lot from that experience and it would be cool to do something like that from Trek.

Only if they do it right. I would rather have live action shows instead. Watched the original animated series as a kid and was happy to have it since it was the only new shows coming out. They had good stories, which were written by some of the writers of TOS, such as the great D.C. Fontana and David Gerrold. The animation was sorry, but we had original cast actors for the most part.

An animated show set in the continuity of the movie post-Vulcan destruction timeline? If they had the actual actors doing the lines I can get behind this

1st - Make the damn sequel! Now!

2nd - Make a live action tv show, but don't make it about the original crew. Set it in the future.

3rd - Make an animated tv show. Use the original crew if you must, but I would still prefer something set in the future.

As long as there is no "Star Wars Clone Wars" style repetition (in other words the new animated series tries to come up with good and newer storylines), then I give two Vulcan salutes in approval of this.

As slowly as they seem to be putting out the Star Trek sequel, we may have no choice but to settle with a animated series. The original was animated series was awesome!
