Seth McFarlane Wouldn't Mind A Shot At Star Trek TV Series

Seth McFarlane Wouldn't Mind A Shot At Star Trek TV Series

Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane would love a shot at rebooting Star Trek for the small screen. Hit the link for more.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter earlier this week about all things animation he happened to mention:

MacFarlane is particularly eager to reboot one of his favorite franchises, Star Trek, for TV. "I don't know who would give me the keys to that car," he jokes, acknowledging that the films have been so profitable for Paramount that he isn't so sure they have a lot of interest in getting back into the TV business. "But I’d love to see that franchise revived for television in the way that it was in the 1990s: very thoughtful, smartly written stories that transcend the science fiction audience.”

I think it would be great to see another Star Trek series on the TV, but would Seth McFarlane be the right choice? He has already made it clear that he is a little bored with Family Guy, the cartoon that's been cancelled and renewed more times than a teenagers subscription to FHM.

Share your thoughts below, was he kidding? Can he do serious?

Seriously, he's already rebooting Flintstones (something I'm not looking forward to) and I'd kill someone if he does Trek. Besides, his shows aren't even that good (Family Guy was decent for a while...now it's meh IMO).

The only good thing he does now is American Dad. That show is extremely underrated, better than "Im just going to ignore the story, and fill up time with pointless cutaway gags" Family Guy.

Seth McFarlane is the most contradictory man in show business. I'll never be able to understand how someone so multitalented and clever, with such diverse interests in animation, science fiction, and musical theatre (?!) has ended up being the creative force behind such rock stupid (though frequently hilarious) cartoons.

It's like finding out Adam Sandler's been quietly researching an Albert Einstein biography for years.

@ComicBuzz Not sure, just randomly found that video on Youtube while browsing around. I like using it for the most ideal moments.

family guy is not being funny since season 8, Hate american dad(never thought it was funny or interesting at all), the cleveland show is not really good, and the guy will probably take the Flintstones and make it in a comedy like family guy, how much wanna bet?
So he should stay away from star trek, he would make it into a comedy for sure

Why not?

"The only good thing he does now is American Dad. That show is extremely underrated, better than "Im just going to ignore the story, and fill up time with pointless cutaway gags" Family Guy."

Ah someone who understands! I still like Family Guy but American Dad is the best animated series right not. South Park has been hit or miss lately.

I would rather see the Family Guy cast parody Star Trek Like they did Star Wars.

A new Star Trek series could be interesting, but I don't think Seth McFarlane is the man for the job, but who knows and I agree that American Dad is better than Family Guy, even though I enjoy them both.

@TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY Southpark is awesome for doing that, they make fun of themselves all the time, the creators were basically saying that they are getting tired of the same old same old show but too bored to give us anything new besides You will still watch it so F*ck You, lol. Southpark calls it how it is the newest one was great, viva la mexico.

I enjoy Family Guy but yeah I also much prefer American Dad. The humor hits a lot more close to home and is more versatile than Family Guy's whose jokes often require a lot of Pop Trivia and a degree in TV Junkie 101.

As to Mr. McFarlene's interest in Trek... well, as long as he has a clear vision and good ideas then I don't see why not... nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'd personally like to see him do a musical series though.

@MajorProblem: You get 200 cool points for that Foamy avatar. :D

If he could do it serious then, yeah. I mean if The Flinstones is good then he might as well reboot Star Trek.

[frick] no to Mcfarlane. Douche isn't even funny. Family Guy- sucks. American Dad sucks even more.

I don't want Mcfarlane to ruin Star Trek.

I like the idea and I think the new series could air on The CW or ABC.
