Just announced on the Jan. 29th, The full cast of Star trek: TNG will be reunited on stage for the first time ever!
Sir Patrick Stewart, Johnathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, Gates McFadden, Mirina Sirtis, Michael Dorn, LeVar Burton, Denise Crosby and Wil Wheaton are all headed north to 'Engage' in a 90 minute Q&A and sign autographs for the throngs of basement-dwelling virgins of Canada.
“I can safely say it will be the first time we have all been gathered together at a convention,” said LeVar Burton, who played Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge, in an interview with The Canadian Press.
LeVar Burton, ho played visually & socially challenged Geordi Laforge through seven seasons and four movies says that although this is the first time fans have seen such an auspicious gathering, it is not exactly unique.
“Generally at Christmas we try to get together — as many of us that are here. Patrick has been here a few times over the years. A few times it has been possible to get everybody ... some years not so much,” he said with a chuckle.
“Because we tend to get together all the time it’s not like we ever left each other’s lives. But the drag is we weren’t getting paid any more to hang out.”
The Calgary Comic Expo was founded six years ago by Kandrix Foong.
After booking George Takei,Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner in recent years, it only made sense to up the ante and get Cap'n Picard on board.
Envisioning the potential for a Next Generation reunion on the show’s 25th anniversary, Foong began approaching cast members, gauging their level of interest.
“When Patrick signed on, within weeks almost everybody else signed on too,” says Foong.
If your wondering how a relatively new and admittedly small expo managed a coup like this, you're not alone...
“We can’t compete with something like the San Diego Comic-Con because we don’t have a built in entertainment industry here,” Foong says. “The movie studios only identify with the biggest shows, like San Diego and New York. They won’t send us anything substantial because, to them, we’re the unheard of guy. . . . Calgary is not an entertainment hotbed by any means.”
But with exclusive events like the Next Generation reunion, Foong feels he’s changing that perception.
“A lot of guys in the entertainment industry are looking at (the Calgary Comic Expo) now and thinking ‘How the hell did they pull that off?’ It’s like the little engine that could, right?”
