Who? Rod Roddy? Wasn't Gene Roddenbury that guy that hosted Match Game? 8^)

Seriously. Can't see the video while at work. I'll have to wait until I get home. I do wonder what he thinks of the new alternate reality Star Trek of Abrahms making.

Been coming to this site for months. Don't know what prompted me to post now..but, I don't think RR gives a crap 'bout Trek or having anything to do with the 'legacy'. I've always gotten the feeling from him he hates having to be the guy who created the legend's son.

@ snoopytrek I would have to disagree. I think he has turned around a lot since his teen years, hell he is 5yrs older than me. I would love to see his new Trekkie document to get released sometime soon!

If he's so damn concerned about carrying on the legacy why didn't we pitch a fit about that god awful reboot.

Like he said in the interview, he has no say over the future of Star Trek. Roddenberry apparently sold all of his rights to Paramount in the '80s.

The thing is, re-boot haters, without the re-boot Trek is dead as Gene himself. The whole franchise had finally hit a wall and Paramount had no idea what to do on the cheap to keep the thing making money. As it stands, you will always have the old series and movies, which I am a deviout fan. Yes, the new film violates some established canon. Thats why it was done as it was so canon (in all its varied forms) could not be used against it. Pumping new youth into the basis of the beginning and jazzing up its content.

totally agree with cowboy. i'm an old fart. every franchise needs young blood to survive. reboot hating sometimes sounds like my dad..."back in my day...". live long and complain. sorry, i meant prosper.
