The game comes to Xbox, PS3 and PC next Summer and boast an "original story and unprecedented co-op experience". You will also be able to play as both Kirk and Spock for the first time ever in a Star Trek video game. Here is a brand new screen shot featuring both of those iconic characters in action..

From the official press release..

The game, which continues the adventure that director and producer J.J. Abrams envisioned with Star Trek (2009), boasts a stand alone story filled with action-packed combat as Kirk and Spock must work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy.

“Star Trek challenges the boundaries of co-op gameplay with a galactic adventure that gamers and fans have never experienced,” said Tom Lesinski, President of Paramount Digital Entertainment. “Working closely with the Star Trek filmmaking team throughout development, the game is sure to deliver AAA production values, a wide variety of gameplay and all the action you would expect from the hit franchise. This will be the definitive Star Trek gaming experience.”

The game is being written by God Of War's Marianne Krawczyk, and in collaboration with Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

As, passed to post this, lol. Anyway, this is looking good, the graphics are very smooth in my eyes. Any info on the genre, though? I mean this looks like a third-person shooter (hopefully), but could also be a first-person shooter, so...yeah. Any?

I bet this game is gonna fail. Hate to say that, even as a big Star Trek fan...you can see from my Avatar. Anyway, I'm not gonna hold my breath this time. I'm gonna pretend I didn't read this.

This isn't a "NEW" SS. It was in Game Informer months ago. That being said I'm still excited, sounds great!

After seeing and playing all the past failures for movie-to-game adaptations I hope this is the one that will be a huge success.
