We saw some pretty good posters for The Phantom Menace 3D re-release last night, but here are some lovely fan made one sheets for all six of the Star Wars flicks. They depict some great, memorable moments from each film (well, MOST films). Even though there are perhaps some more iconic images or scenes they could have used, I like the ones they went with. Which is your favorite?

I do like Episode III's though :P

@yossarian - Because they're secretly awesome, but openly hated by '70s Star Wars purists. :-\

I find it funny that (ep 3 aside..that is a pretty cool moment) the best they could come up with for the prequels was..Darth Maul and Sidious standing on a balcony, and Mannequin and Padme standing in a garden.

Episode III's is hilarious.

they're pretty sweet, but i wish they had chosen more iconic scenes. for example:
Episode 1- Darth Maul fights Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan
Episode 2- When the Clones Attack
Episode 3- Anakin Kneels Before Sidious
Episode 4- Luke and Han escaping the Death Star
Episode 5- Luke Hangs from the Bottom of Cloud City w/ Millenium Falcon Approaching
Episode 6- Vader fights Luke

It's funny how ever since the Plinkett reviews, no one even tries to defend the prequels anymore :)

yeah i almost think people hate the prequels just to be cool. the prequels really aren't that bad. sure the acting in episode 2 is terrible, but episode 3 is pretty cool, and the darth maul fight in episode 1 is awesome. and of course i'm going to get crucified for posting this, because people think it makes them sounds knowledgeable and refined if they criticize something excessively, like people do with the prequels. and of course everyone's going to come on and say "no i really think the prequels are crap" and then proceed to give absolutely no legitimate reason and suggest that someone ban me for "stupidity" and use an excessive amount of swear words. sometimes i think people need to grow up. i like all 6 star wars movies.

Chanco, isn't that a bit pot and kettle? You just said ep 1 is great because of one single fight scene..and gave no reasons why you felt ep 3 was cool? I think all 3 movies had their moments but were ultimately failures. I don't think that to be "cool", I think it because..I think it! And I can back it up. It would take a whole essay worth...feel free to debate me on any aspect though.

These are awesome, for everyone saying the scenes aren't iconic enough... I think that's the point and part of the charm with them. They may not be the most memorable moments of each film but they are all distinctively recognizable! This is what makes them interesting and different to all the other awesome fan made posters.

Pretty cool! I agree with MARV3L. The simplicity of the scenes chosen sets these posters apart.

I really dig these. But if he was going for iconic scenes from each film... for Episode V, I would've gone with the scene where Vader reveals he's Luke's daddy.

@RorMachine, good point. I mainly only referred to a couple things because I wanted to avoid the whole "essay" thing. this is the way i see it: i think a movie can be enjoyable and very likable without being a total hit. this is what i mean: it seems like everyone here holds movies up to the gold standard of "oscar worthy" that cbm's like x-men first class and the dark knight have brought, while sometimes i can look back at a movie and be like "that was an awesome movie" without seeing an amazing performance or particularly unique plot. that being said, i think the prequels did have an intriguing plot, and though the love story of episode 2 seemed faulty, i did enjoy the plot points with the clones, as well as the fall of anakin in episode 3. i also greatly enjoyed episode 1, mainly due to qui-gon. jar jar is pretty childish, but then again, so is jabba the hut. i mean come on, people don't see it because he's part of the "classic trilogy", but seriously, look at him. i like all the movies, and can see why some people may have been disappointed in them, but i almost think its like its an unfair comparison. different time periods have different styles of film. like i said, i like all 6 star wars movies.

@ChanchoMcGrady - Do your brain a favor and watch the RedLetterMedia reviews of Star Wars.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 1/13/2012, 8:57 PM
I dunno dude, a good movie is a good movie and vice versa, time period is really irrelevant. The original trilogy is not perfect, but they just worked. A few silly things crept in (The Ewoks etc) but they got away with em because most other aspects were so strong. Now I wasn't holding the prequels to an Oscar worthy standard, but it's it fair to at least hold them to the previous movies standard? Especially given the advances in film making techniques? That's pretty much all those prequels were, special effects riddled toy adverts. Results of an egomaniacs stubbornness and unwillingness to listen to anyone. Lucas has actually said the words "I'm not a very good director", yet he insisted on directing? WTF?

Terrible, none of the scenes depicted in the posters represent the themes of the movie titles in any way. Just fan moments simply done on photoshop, this is parents basement level news!

..and ust for the record Prequel film lovers, you really need to ask more questions when you watch movies rather than just enjoy the special FX and action scenes. if you did you'd realise how ridiculously written those films are and how none of the motivations for the characters make any sense let alone the contrived plots!

For example..

If the TF are blockading the Planet Naboo and the Senate sends two Jedi to resolve the issue, then why when the Jedi come back are they not in the senate telling everyone what they witnessed instead of just the Queen trying and failing to convince them they've been invaded?

another one..

IN TPM Obi Wan makes an elaborate somersault over Darth Mauls head at the beginning of the three-way fight and Maul blocks his attack without even looking! At the end of the fight Obi Wan does an even more elaborate somersault over Mauls head and this time Maul is looking, turns to follow Obi Wan's complete manoeuvre and landing but this time fails to block the swing let alone even make an attempt and gets cut in half! Then at the end of ROTS Anakin attempts the same manoeuvre while Obi Wan has "The High Ground" and Obi Wan simply cuts his limbs off in mid somersault! ...do you see any common sense or consistency here fanboys?

There are loads of contrived and badly plotted scenes in those terrible movies but the worse is the end of ROTS when Padme decided to die after having twins even though the robot says there is nothing physically wrong with her. She's literally choosing to die from grief yet she tells Obi Wan not to give up on Anakin because there is still good in him? How does that make any sense if she's giving up? Does mother hood mean squat, where's her maternal instinct to protect your children at all cost disappeared to? Who writes crazy character motivations like that? and to make it worse, in ROTJ Luke asks Liea what she remembers of her real mother, Liea says she was beautiful and very sad", how the hell does she remember anything, she was fresh out of the Vag and saw Padme for 2 seconds just like Luke!

Star Wars fans of the Prequel movies remain the dumbest most easily pleased bunch in the history of the genre!

@Ceejay - to answer your questions.

1. The two Jedi were meant to negotiate with the Viceroy. The Viceroy tried to kill them, so obviously he did not want to negotiate. Queen Amidala is then CAPTURED, and saved by the same Jedi. They are forced to leave the planet. I don't see what's hard to understand about any of that.

2. Have you ever heard of the Force? The first time he blocked him, Maul was ready for him, so he blocked him while probably using the force. The second time, he wasn't expecting Obi-Wan at all. He was more surprised than anything. Not to mention, not everybody on the Dark Side is that smart. He probably forgot about Qui-Gon's lightsaber lying nearby.

3. There's no "common sense" needed. A 5 year old could tell you that Anakin was clearly not level-headed at the time. He was fighting with anger and hatred, which is not the way you're supposed to wield a lightsaber. Ever been drunk? He was drunk on hate, and clearly underestimated Obi-Wan's ability. So...Obi-Wan spanked him and put him in his place. Don't forget...Anakin had an accelerated talent for being a Jedi. He was barely a Knight. Obi-Wan was a Master.

But I have no idea about Padme dying. Women are weird. Perhaps she was destined to die, as a part of the Force's plan.

@ ChanchoMcGrady - I get what your saying but having Anakin kneeling before Sidious is that silhouette style would just look like he was giving head.

@Ceejay
Padme was dying because Anakin force choked the life out of her. Im sure he did something with the force that the robo doctor could not physically see. i cant really explain the leia thing, but c'mon, thats one little plot hole. doesnt it bother you that luke made out with his sister?

and thank you fartman, i also thought that those plot points were INCREDIBLY easy to understand. also, when you watch the movie The Transporter, are you watching it for the plot/character development? No, you're watching it to see Jason Statham kick some trash. Now the prequels are on a much higher level than that, but whats wrong with a sci-fi adventure movie having adventure in it? i think obi-wan's character develops very well, and i think that the transition from republic to empire was done pretty well.

@RorMachine fair enough. Personally, i think the movies are entertaining. sometimes, movies can just be good without having a super unique plot or character development. look at Captain America. the plot is very simple, bad guy wants to take over the world, unlikely kid gets superpowered and stops him. sure Steve Rogers is a very interesting character, but does he actually develop? no, he's the same amazing guy the whole movie. and I LOVE Captain America, so sometimes movies are just good.
