Seth Green Discusses His Upcoming Star Wars Project

Seth Green says his new Star Wars "comedy show" will take place during the original trilogy of movies! But, don't expect too much action...

For many Star Wars fans, any new material dealing with the expansive universe created by George Lucas is welcome, especially if it takes place during the timeline of the original trilogy. For other Star Wars fans, anything other than the original trilogy is a travesty not worth mentioning.

The divide between these two passionate groups of fans is sure to widen with the debut of Seth Green's planned Star Wars "comedy show."

Considering this is the guy who brought us Robot Chicken, can we expect there to be any action? Yes, according to Green, but not action in the conventional sense.

"No more action than your average Looney Tunes or Tom and Jerry. You know, it's action in that sense, but we are focusing on things that are funny about the universe as opposed to the wars themselves."

Green told IGN that his show will take place during the timeline of the original trilogy, territory that Lucas has pretty much kept off-limits to other creators.

"If you think about today's culture and our America and the fact that we are actively at war for over the last ten years... There's an ongoing war! Now, imagine that war was between the Rebels and the Empire and we're on some off world called Los Angeles where we really have no interaction with any of that stuff. That's kind of what this is."

What do you think, Star Wars fans? Personally, I'm very wary of Green getting his hands on the Star Wars franchise. Then again, he couldn't do much worse than coming up with some lame character like Jar Jar Binks or some ridiculous concept like midichlorians, could he?

I hope they do something similar to the Tag & Bink comics from Darkhorse. They were hilarious and proved that the Star Wars universe is ripe for all sorts of comedic hijinks.

I don't know...I watched the first couple seasons of Robot Chicken and there were some funny ones, but most of it is pretty lame. I just don't understand Lucas' thought process here. He didn't let any of the awesome novelists use the original trilogy, but he'll let Seth "Scoooooottt" Green play around with them?

That being said...of course I'll watch whatever it is.
