The Govenator may have a cameo in Terminator Salvation.

Arnold may in fact be in the new movie...

Ryan Gillen from TheArnoldFans.com asked the Govenator at the recent Arnold Classic weekend. He wrote that Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn’t actually ruled out a brief cameo in the new film, and may possibly have a brief cameo.

As you know he is currently the governer of "Kellyfornia" as he calls it.

Arnold was initially reluctant to be involved in the film, but he still has the final say when the effects are done. But most likely, Arnold will be in the film for a cameo. There'll probably be a short image of a CGI Arnold. But either way, it'll be a surprise, since the film has not released any news involving Arnold.

This is Arnold’s response to Gillen’s question about his involvement in Terminator Salvation.

“I have seen the movie, but I have not seen it as a finished product yet. I have not seen it yet with the Terminator special effects and some of the sound and the music is not in there yet and so on. So I really cannot comment on it, what the movie will be like as a finished product. There's a rule that you never talk about a movie unless you have seen the finished product. But you know as I said to the director when they began that I wish them the best of luck, that I'm happy that they move forward with the franchise, I am very happy with where I am with my profession as the governor and they should try to find a way of doing a story that does not include me at all, not even one single shot in it. I don't believe in that. To kind of have them go out and promote the movie and say you know Arnold is in the movie and everyone thinks that I'm the Terminator and in fact you only see one second of me in there and so I don't think thats the right thing to do. And you know that's the danger of that, and that's why I feel reluctant to be part of the movie in the first place. So it doesn't get promoted that way.”

Well the fact that Schwarzenegger is open to a cameo is interesting. The fact that he said “and in fact you only see one second of me in there” shows that he may in fact have a cameo. That or we’re all just grasping at straws. I for one hope it ends up being true.

If he was in the movie perhaps he would look something like this.

A while back he said he would appear in some scenes for T4, if they filmed it in Kellyfornia, but to my knowledge that did not happen.

Nice pic from the second Terminator 3 console game. I never actually completed it. I got half way and had no idea how to get any further. The only game that I have completed less of is Dune. I couldn't even do the first level.... anybody who can complete that 1 level is some sort of godsend!!!!

He needs to focus on the situation out here in Cullyfornia. We are in huge trouble, and the last thing we need is for the Governator out in New Mexico or some sound stage for a few weeks just so we can see him in the picture. Screw it, use that guy that looks just like him that they use in the spoof movies. Im fine with that, especially since they are screwing with the timeline so much with the TV show. Who cares if its the other guy.

Arnie is the terminator but for goodness sake if hes not in this it doesnt make it any less good as a film. Im a huge fan of the terminator franchise and have always seen the 2nd installment as the best one, and that being said it was not solely because of arnie, but because the story was in my opinion the best of the 3 that there are. I think T4 from the things that ive seen so far is going to impress me and other true fans no matter what even if it is lacking the man that gave us the first terminator.

THE STORY COMES FIRST!!! IN ALL FILMS!!!

@Pierce. Arnold told them he would make a cameo and a few scences maybe. IF,IF they filmed it in Kellyfornia. But I don't think that happened, you might know if you arre from out there. Let us know if you do.

LISTEN TO MEE, WE HAVE TO GET TO THE CHOPPA, LISTEN TO ME! GET DOWN! haha, good stuff...this is sweet, it'll give it more of that "Terminator" feel, but I"m glad he just has a cameo, it'd be over doing it if he was the main terminator in this one too

@NubaX yea that would be a good idea. The Rock needs to get into more action roles lately he has been too many kid flicks. They could get him, John Cena or Jason Statham.

The funny thing is. Im got a ton of news on this film, from my mom. She live in Albquerque, and they filmed most of T4 out there. They have all the studios and land needed out there to film the movie. SO, that being said. I dont think Arnie made it out there. The New Mexico Film industry is booming. They got a few studios out there, and they give much better deals to the producers so they keep the entire production in the state. I would be suprised if they shot one frame out here in Cullyfornia.

Does anyone know the name of that Arnie Look-a-like guy Im tring to think of.

"i do not want to see the same terminator in every film. if they do a armold cameo thats cool. but he is model 101 meaning there are many others. lets see them too."

If you want to see the other models.. Watch the lame ass TV show that is killing the continuity of the series. From what Ive heard, they have had multiples coming back and forth through time. Plus, Summer Glau is another model, so there yah go.

As Cartman would say "Super Lame"

@ Hawk

I just checked the IMDB page for T4. And it appears they never left NM while filming.

They could show up at the capitol and take some photos of Arnie, but who wants to see old Arnie. If we see him in this, it will be a young Arnie. They can do it without him. The artists are good enough to use the 1st two films as a basis, and create Arnie in CG. Then you could show up at his office, record any lines you have for him, and there ya go.

So, its not impossible. But, I think if we do see him, it wont be him. It will be CGI.
MisterNiceGuy
MisterNiceGuy - 3/17/2009, 3:49 PM
well as i stated before they are using the body of another bodybuilder Roland Kickinger(that might be who you were refereing to pierce) and Arnolds face will be CGI'd onto his.

Grif,
The idea you suggested with Arnold as a T-800 coming off an assembly line actually DID happen...

In the summer on 1990 there was a teaser trailer released that showed a factory assembling T-800s with all sorts of machines and things and at the end a press slowly opened, there was steam and then we saw that it was Arnold as the T-800. This left audiences going crazy and at that point no one knew that Arnold's character in "Judgment Day" wouldn't be the villain as he was in the first movie. You can see the trailer on some of the special editions of "Terminator 2" and probably on youtube.

Thanks Troque.. I could not think of his name. Or anything Id seen him in.

Yeah, thats what I was suggesting. And is completely fine with me. The less we see Arnold act, the better the movie will be. If its computers controlling him, all the better. There are plenty of voice-over guys that can do a better Arnold then Arnold himself.
MetalHead
MetalHead - 3/18/2009, 6:08 AM
Ok Pierce, that's kinda trash concidering that if it weren't for how Arnold played the T-800 in "The Terminator" in 1984 then we aren't here today, 25 years later, talking about sequels to that movie. Make NO mistake-- had it not been for how Arnold portrayed the Terminator then this franchise would not be what it is. Is he the greatest actor of all time? Of course not, but he absolutely nailed that role and you can't knock his acting as a Terminator.

Note: I don't acknowledge "T3" and nor does the TV series and supposedly nor does "Terminator: Salvation." As far as I'm concerned, it didn't happen. Not due to the acting but due to the HORRIBLE writing.
Pierce_Highmen

@ MetalHead

I dont think Arnie was the reason the first movie was good. It was because the story was awesome. Same with the second. Sure Arnie was perfect for the role. But lets not confuse him with Stallone (Oscar Nom for Best Actor & Writing and Won Best Picture, for Rocky), he just showed up and acted like a robot.

Its like you said, it was because of the writing. Cameron is a good writer & director. When he left the series, thats when all hell broke loose. Instead of one guy putting the story and film together, you had 5 dudes writing, none of which had worked on the previous films, and a director with little to no experience. And a studio looking for anything they can put Arnie in. Then, what do you get? A fricking trainwreck! Now you add in the Charlies Angels director, and the same 5 dudes sitting around writing. How will they not mention T3, at least in passing. You have to acknoledge that Skynet took over, right? John still has to dig out of a bunker somehwere, right? Kate will be there with him, and they will marry somehow, right? Its impossible not to mention T3.

Now, Cameron is the guy behind the TV show (why do you think its set between T2 and T3), so maybe we should be paying that alittle more attention. If you truly like T1&2, then the show would be the best place to go for a continuation. Wouldn't it?

Pierce,
First off, I do watch the show still every week.

Second, you are incorrect. James Cameron has nothing to do with the series other than the fact that the characters he created are used.

Third, I am probably THE BIGGEST Terminator fan alive and anyone who knows me will agree. (I know the pin numbers John uses at the ATM and at Cyberdyne Systems.) The reason I mention this is that I could very easily come up with many ways to disprove any of these theories that you are suggesting as far as needing to acknowledge the 3rd movie, which can actually be done with the fact that you are incorrect to an extent that the show takes place between the 2nd & 3rd movies-- the events BEGAN before "T3" but then changed the "Terminator" timeline and therefore wiped out the possibility of "T3" being able to happen.

Finally, I am sorry but you are completely wrong that Arnold didn't make the movie and here are 2 pieces of proof:

1) O.J. Simpson was who James Cameron originally wanted to play the Terminator. Do you honestly think that the movie would have been close to as successful with him? No way. And I don't mean at the box office but the cult following it has or the blockbuster sequels, the TV spin-off and the new upcoming trilogy? Or what about even if they had a guy like Segal or Van Damme (even though it was before their times but just to help to imagine how neither of them could have sold the movie as more than just another cheesy action flick like "Cyborg").

2) It was the little things that Arnold added to the role-- ideas which he came up with on his own-- that sold him as a machine. One example was the way he would turn his eyes prior to turning his head like in the scene where he is driving around in the police car scanning for Sarah and Reese. There are several other examples as well. Watch the movie again and watch his movements and manerisms. He nailed it. And not to mention how f'ing scary he was.

Long story short, it doesn't matter how good your story is, without the right actor to play the lead role it can be the difference between a complete flop and an all-time classic. And without Arnold, the "Terminator" series is not even close to as enormously successful as it is today. Period.

MetalHead - 3/19/2009, 7:32 AM
Yeah definitely. I'm with you grif. And as a relgious "Terminator" fan I really am looking forward to this movie and I don't feel like I'm lying to myself that it will be good like I did when "T3" was coming out.

As far as bringing that teaser up in the first place, I was just mentioning it in case you hadn't seen in because it really is a cool piece of "Terminator" history.

While we're all talking about this I might as well throw something out there... I don't know if anyone here has read any of the comics but there is one pretty cool idea that the comics had: they had Danny Dyson (for those who don't know he is the son of Myles Dyson; he was driving his remote-control truck in "T2") as one of John's closest resistance fighers. To me this was an excellent idea because he is a character who would have (a) bought on to the Terminator/Skynet/Judgment Day stuff very early on due to some of the events having a major impact on his life at such a young age and (b) it was a great way to have a character in the future who has ties to both the 2nd movie AND the entire "Terminator" storyline. The point of all this is that I think it would've been great if they incorporated Danny into "Terminator: Salvation," although it looks so good that I won't be disappointed that they didn't.
