Movie-going audiences were introduced to the DC Comics supervillain Mister Mind during the mid-credits scene of 2019's Shazam!. In the scene, Mister Mind is seen being examined by Dr. Sivana inside the prison while he is contained within a glass jar. He is portrayed as a small worm or caterpillar that can communicate verbally.
Mister Mind is a well-known antagonist in the Shazam! comics and this scene plays off of an Easter egg that was planted earlier in the movie. Additionally, it sets up the possibility of a sequel by establishing Mister Mind as a character in the scene.
Billy Batson ultimately triumphs over the villain Dr. Sivana by humiliating him in front of his envious followers, which leaves Sivana defenseless and completely human.
In Sivana's early years, he attempted to defeat Captain Marvel by using weapons that he had designed and created himself. However, in the end, Captain Marvel was able to destroy Sivana's business empire and research facility, leaving Sivana without any resources and leaving him bitter.
Sivana is defeated in the DC Extended Universe after he demands that Shazam give him his powers and punches him, only to be knocked into a car.
It should also be mentioned for anyone that may not know, Captain Marvel's name changed to Shazam due to trademark issues with Marvel Comics. In 1967, Marvel Comics introduced its own character named "Captain Marvel", and eventually acquired the trademark to the name. This led DC Comics, the publisher of the original Captain Marvel, to stop using that name and begin referring to the character as Shazam instead. DC Comics officially changed the character's name to Shazam in 2011 to eliminate any confusion between the character and Marvel Comics' Captain Marvel.
In the world of DC Comics, the supervillain known as Mister Mind made his debut in the issue of Captain Marvel Adventures published in August 1943. Otto Binder and C. C. Beck, working for Fawcett Comics, were the ones who came up with the character.
Mister Mind is a telepathic spaceworm that hails from the planet Venus. He is famous for his incredible mental powers, which enable him to exert complete mental dominance over those he attacks. Mister Mind, despite his diminutive stature, is regarded as one of Captain Marvel's most formidable adversaries.
When he finds Dr. Sivana in the prison cell, he talks about how "The Seven Realms will be ours". The Seven Realms are actually the Seven Magiclands, which are linked to the Rock of Eternity, as depicted in the comics. These Magiclands have only recently been presented in the comics as part of an ongoing storyline, but they have already established themselves as an essential component of the Shazam! mythology. In the scene that plays after the credits roll in the 2019 Shazam! film there is a clear allusion to the Seven Realms, which suggests that they could play a significant part in a potential follow-up installment.
We haven't seen any teasing of Mister Mind in the trailers up to this point, but we also didn't know much about him prior to Shazam! either!. With James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over the DC Studios, this could be part of their plan to go in a different direction. As well, there was so little done with this character that he could be very useful for them even as a pun or joke.
