Speaking with AlternativeNation.net, the legendary actor and voice actor Stacy Keach spoke about his role as Wallenquist in the newly released Sin City sequel, A Dame To Kill For. Acknowledging the movie's box office failure, Keach admits, "The movie’s not doing great, I think the reason the critics are saying is that they waited too long. Waited too long between the original and sequel. Its not doing business. I have a feeling that its longevity down the road will show, and it will be redeemed."

When asked by the interviewer about the longevity and box office value of comic book movies in general, the actor stressed that as long as the vision and right writers are available, any medium is here to stay. "No, I don’t think its gonna fizzle out! Animation and graphic storytelling are here to stay. Its part of the form of language of film," later adding, "Its about the writing. Its all about the writing, the vision, the writers and the producers."

Keach used Marvel's latest box office monster Guardians of the Galaxy as an example of how comic book movies are here to stay, saying, "Isn’t that a great movie?! Bradley Cooper, look at him! I loved that movie, just loved it. That’s another example of a combination of style. Inclusion of animated figures working with live action figures."

Actually people like the dark knight rises and i thought man of steel was a good movie. but to each his own i guess. plus what about the ghost rider movies and the punisher movies plus xmen last stand plus xmen origins. don't just say DC almost killed it there are others as well.

I actually find NosferatuZodd's comments hilarious only because of his avatar.

That Donatello smirk really suits the douchiness of his posts.

@Nosferatu,

STFU!

Even if WB killed the CBM with Batman and Robin, the brought it back with Blade and sent it to new heights with The Dark Knight (first CBM to hit $1B at the box office; only CBM to garner an Academy Award for a performance).

Yeah, eat THAT dick.

I wish I could judge Sin City 2 objectively.
I got in and pretty much fell dead asleep 30 minutes in.
I woke around the time Rosario arrived at Eva Green's house.

Shit, I don't even know anybody's name in that movie.
Ol' girl Alba was acting like psycho in that movie. I didn't even know what her deal was.

I'll just have to catch it again on HBO.

While Marvel has been on a roll since The Avengers,some of the phase one films ranged from simply ok like Thor or Captain America The First Avenger to possible turds themselves like Ironman 2 and The Incredible Hulk. Even post Avengers, Ironman 3 and Thor The Dark World are divisive among fans even if they (like MOS and TDKR) made lots
of money.

When WB has a body of DC Cinematic Universe films that can be looked back upon,you will see that some will be
better then others and some (according to the law of averages) will join MOS and TDKR in being big hits that still managed to piss off a lot of fans.

Even if those two films did rile up some fans,the simple truth is both helped the CBM genre more then they hurt it and MOS is now the basis of the whole DC Cinematic Universe which will spring up in BVS in reaction to the very events in MOS that have caused most of the fanboy hate directed at that film.

comic book movies will fizzle out when cop and lawyer shows do.

@MantiniuMan

Yes DC gets their villains right, sometimes. But their heroes are like watching paint dry.

MoS really missed the point about Superman.

Let's add all the Fantastic Four movies, X-Men the last stand, Thor The Dark World, Spider-man 3, TASM, Hulk, and Guardians of the Galaxy to that list. That's right I said GOTG, bring it!

@oNosferatuZodd -

Batman and Robin is a turd but it's one of the most important CBM's of all time. Kevin Feige once said that.

Sin City 2 was great!, hope they release a box set of Sin City and Sin City with all the stories in the correct timeline. I think people didn't go see it because they were confused how Marv is still alive after in the first movie be got the electric chair and the fact Clive Owen got replaced by Josh Brolin but by the end of A Dame to Kill For they explain how his face changed and they have Brolin almost looking just like Clive Owen and it was great.

Both SIN CITY films are fvcking cool.
R-rated films will never make as much as PG films but for SC2 to flop is a shame.

Can't understand the reason films like this & DREDD don't at least do above average at the box office.
They are solid entertaining films that kick ass..does everything have to be watered down kid friendly crap?

This shit again? Sorry, but incorporating humor into a film do not equate to "kid friendly"; especially when the jokes go over the average kid's head. Adulthood is not all dark and grim as some of you expect it to be. Even if your adult life sucks, you shouldn't mind breaking up the monotony of your existence with a laugh here and there.

There's a huge insurmountable problem with the "waited too long for a sequel" logic.

If that's true then why did Sin City #1 have mild success with no lead-in? Why was Guardians Of The Galaxy, Titanic, Avatar, Transformers, Hangover, all successes with no prequel lead-in?

Then you have Tron Legacy 28 years after Tron but it did $400 million worldwide.
Toy Story 3 was 10 years after #2.

Sin City 2 is a mediocre movie doing mediocre numbers. It didn't help to have such an NO-STAR cast! Sin City 2 has a very outdated cast.

It will sell a few Blurays and DVDs and there will be a few fans who bullshit for the next decade that it was actually great. Like they do with Daredevil (Coolio)Director's cut.
