Are the Comic Book Movie Gods smiling to us?
It certainly seems so. After The Avengers conquered the World, proving to be worthy of becoming one of the World's mightiest films, our friendly neighborhood The Amazing Spider-Man is the next blockbuster superhero film of the year, with the release date on July, 3rd. The first impressions surrounding the film after the earlier press screenings are pun most definitely intended amazing, but it seems that the good news are far from slowing down.
Yesterday at the press junket for
The Amazing Spider-Man, the producers Avi Arad and Matthew Tolmach talked exclusively with
Crave Online about the idea of expanding the Spider-Verse with a
Venom film and more interestingly, about the possibility of Spider-Man meeting The Avengers.

As you know, Venom is defender of the innocent,” said Arad. “
The only guy he really, really hates is Peter Parker, Spider-Man. The reason you didn’t see more development on Venom in the comics is because this power that he was given, he knew who Peter was, he knew who Spider-Man was, so go kill him already. We always struggle with storylines and you see the new Venom books. It’s Flash in Iraq. We know that if we put him in a certain position and concentrate on the human, not on the creature, which I thought was a really good beginning in 3.”

Everything is possible,” said Arad. “
If something like that happens, it’s great for Disney, it’s great for Sony. If the right story comes in, we are now working on Venom first. It’s our first out. So our thinking is in the right direction. Avengers to me was an expected success so I never looked at it because Avengers was successful.”

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets.
