Empire has now officially unveiled the Spider-Man: Far From Home newsstand cover for its upcoming Summer 2019 issue, and it gives is a new look at Spidey (Tom Holland) in his upgraded red and black suit alongside the man who will aid him in his fight against The Elementals, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal).

As any comic book fan worth their salt will be aware, Quentin Beck is a villain in the source material - but the filmmakers continue to maintain that this take on the character will indeed be an ally to Spider-Man and doesn't have any ulterior motives. Hmmmm.

We'll find out when the movie swings into theaters in July. In the meantime, check out the cover below and be sure to pick up a copy of Empire this Thursday.

Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 2.

They don't really expect us to think Mysterio is a hero, right? They can't think we're stupid... Right?

I mean, how disappointing would it be if THAT was the plot twist of the movie. That the Spider-Man villain turns out to be... The villain of this Spider-Man.

@KWilly - I bet he’s not from another world either. No multiverse, all a lie.

@KWilly - Well, I'd rather have Mysterio as a villain even if it's by subterfuge than to have him actually be a hero.

Mysterio's suit:

@MotherGooseUPus - they made a bold choice making mysterios iconic suit into a fire breathing dragon. All they said was that it worked for game of thrones.

That suit could easily be the best spidey suit if they would change some things up.
The new black and red one looks cool, but I still prefer the classic look.

I freaking beg the CGI to be toned down with that damn suit. Pleaseeeee. I honestly have not felt a true physical presence of Spidey in these films since Civil War, and its frustrating. The same thing happened with Iron Man from IM3 through to Civil War.

@TheRadioDemon - It'd be cooler if it made sense. Just seems lazy to me "let's just plonk Godzilla's severed-head, facing upright on top of the cinema."

That's pretty poorly photoshopped. The empasis on The Shard makes me worried that there'll be some rooftop finale like TASM.

Mysterio is such a bullshitter, he's probably not even really standing there, open your eyes Spidey!

OT: Just finished Slott's run of Spider-Man, what a turdfest. Is Nick Spencer's run any better?

@soberchimera - If you like Spider-Man you'll love Nick Spencers run. It's been a long time since I was so excited for a comic and waiting impaciently for the next issue. At the begining it starts somewhat slow (but in a good way) because it has to erase a lot of the damage that Slott did to the character, but it picks up quick and this current arc is masterful. It will end up as well remembered as the last hunt or the kid who collected spider-man. As you can see I'm slightly gushing because between the comics, into the spiderverse, ps4 spidey and to a little lesser extenct mcu spidey, it's been a great year to be a Spider-man fan!

@AndrewHolland - Good to hear, I started Slott's Iron Man run out of curiosity and it's not half bad, I'm interested to see what the Controller's endgame is.

@soberchimera - I might try it in the future, but honestly Slott just burned me out
